I’m not into sci-fi at all. I watched all the Star Wars movies because pop-culture. I did enjoy them. Never watched anything like starship galactica or anything. Obviously I loved the terminator movies, but they stick out a bit from conventional sci-fi.

I liked this series. I find it best to watch whilst partaking.

Sometimes they go through huge amounts of time, with little development, and it was a little weird. Like from one episode to the next just completely changing setting in space and time, while maintaining a relatively unchanged plot. But I got over that pretty easy.

Towards the end, obviously a primary theme is death. And it gets you thinking about death. It reminded me of a philosopher (I forget which one), who commented on this idea that concepts like philosophy and religion would not exist without death. It also made me think about this religious idea of some type of eternal war between good and evil. Like, God, in all its infinite wisdom and glory, participates this human barbarism lol.

I feel they did a really good job at soliciting a type of empathy for all of humanity in the audience with how they end humanity. It felt a lot like Lost and Infinity War. Both of which I enjoyed.

It just doesn’t matter who you are, what you are doing. We all think we are so important and what we are working on is the most important thing. Then we just unceremoniously die and the universe remains intact. I like the egotistical gut check.

Without reading too much into as I just did, entertainment wise, it is enjoyable. They continue a stream of propagating conflict, climax, resolution, conflict cycle which keeps you engaged.

Strong 8/10 for me, not an avid watcher of sci-fi though. Would recommend.

I agree with you guys saying it went too far left field. I was going to say that but then realized it’s sci-fi and hardly any of it was believable in the first place.

I think they really focus on human interactions and inner/external personal conflict. Which we can all understand. They did introduce some crazy ideas, but the primary focus remained personal conflict. I don’t think the unrealistic concepts took away from that. If you are still engaged up to the end of season 6, you will like season 7.

Huge Sci fi fan here but that show is trash and went off the rails hardcore. Characters were inconsistent, there were a ton of plot holes and people just being incredibly stupid to prolong tension. Then it turned into this huge leftish lesbian power cluster fuk and I was like naw I can't anymore.



The OA is another disappointment because Season 1 imo was great and really left a strong impression. Season 2 was fuking AWFUL holy chit what an absolute convoluted nonsensical mess. Wish I can scrub it from my memory.



The Expanse however...... is pretty fuking awesome and EVERY Sci Fi fan should see it, otherwise they're doing themselves a massive disservice. I'm loving the hell out of that show.

As soon as it went to season 4/5, the show sucked ass.

Yeah, I feel one of the biggest character deviations was when Bellamy decided it was just okay to kill all those TreeKrew (season 2 or 3 I think) then became grounded almost instantly afterwards.

There are some other examples as well of course.
