I personally think smoking is one of the stupidest things you can do. The problem is, free will is a human right. The lines get blurred when people smoke in non-smoking-specific areas, subjecting those around them to passive smoking.

But this is a slippery slope. There’s a book, I think it’s called “1984” about a world where the government “knows what’s best” and basically controls society to the point where they even monitor peoples’ thoughts.

People know the risks of smoking. Moon lands on man. Alcohol kills too. I’m sure there’s people out there for whom a cigarette is the highlight of their day. Parties where friendships and even relationships have been fueled by common interest in tobacco smoking. “Got a light?”

Live and let live. Sugar and high calorie foods probably kill significantly more people than smoking. Are we going to ban Doritos and Mountain Dew? We as humans are entitled to choices. Are we going to make it mandatory to exercise for 30 minutes 3 times a week? Because government knows best.

Personally, I think smoking should be illegal in public spaces. But in their own designated areas? It’s their fuking decision and it’s their body.

If this happens, I guarantee there’ll be an uprising. Also, lol @ the government thinking this’ll weed out tobacco smoking. How’d that work for banning pot? Tobacco will just move to the black market.
