Any brahs with sleep apnea here?
Just got diagnosed. Did a sleep study and apparently I stopped breathing 17 times an hour. Been sleeping like chit for years so I finally went in for a sleep study. I'm not even overweight, I'm just a slim guy.
Doc gave me a CPAP machine, but can't stand wearing the mask in bed unfortunately. It's uncomfortable, and the noise of hearing myself breathing is fücking annoying. It also has air vents on the front of the mask and it blows some air on my face.
Are there any masks I can look into that are not as annoying to wear? I need absolute quiet when I need to sleep.

Moderate sleep apnea.
I stop breathing for more than 10 seconds on average 21 times per hour bringing my blood O^2 saturation down to less than 85%.
This is the one thing stopping me from flying civilian after retiring.
I hate wearing the mask. It is so horrible.
I know I need to. I know my life will be better in general for it. And I will be able to fly again (maybe not commercial).
Man it sucks though.
What kind of setup you have?
I have a resmed airsense 10. Full face mask
It has cooling coils in the tube to cool down the water vapor which is cool.
Once the mask is on, I love feeling the pressure of the air going in my lungs.
My problem is I can only sleep on my back, or slightly tilted, and drool collects inside the mask.

In for suggestions...
Got a sleep study done at the hospital about a month ago (horrible experience btw) and found out I mild obstructive sleep apnea. Can't meet with the sleep doc until DECEMBER 16th!!! Haven't picked up the results yet because I figured I wouldn't be able to interpret them anyway. They did tell me I had 51% sleep efficiency and my average O2 saturation was 94% with the lowest reading @ 81%. Am I going to make it?

Try out the different mask styles. At first, none of it will feel comfortable, but trust me, it will become a part of you and you will get phenomenal sleep once you get used to it.
Sleep apnea kills your heart. The resulting lower blood oxygen levels starve your heart of the oxygen it needs, and your heart slowly dies. My dad always made fun of the CPAP machine until he went to the doc and found out his heart was ejecting at rate of 7% of what a normal heart should.
Honestly have not had a worse experience than a sleep study though.

I really like the Philips Respironics DreamStation unit. Adaptive CPAP is so much better than the old days!
I wear earplugs to bed. Strongly recommend!!!
Best wishes with your therapy.
At age 64, I've exceeded all my prior PRs. Not “over the hill” yet. :)

i get some leakage with this one once in a while so i just move it around til it stops.
i wish it didnt have vents in the mouth and at the attachment point but it is what it is
resmed has a similar one to the dreamwear but it wasnt as comfortable for me and the hose attached to the face which i didnt like

Got it. I would go home at lunch and put the mask on for an hour and read, wide awake. 4 or 5 days and I was sleeping like a baby with the mask and now there is no way in hell I would sleep without one. Ignoring sleep apnea damages every organ in your body.
The least intrusive is the nose pillows but you have to sleep with your mouth shut or with a strap around your head and chin to hold mouth closed.
Also make sure you get fitted at a shop until you find one you like.

Actually called my doctor to get recommendations for a sleep study. I'm definitely obese.
I don't know anything about Cpap machines.
Did research on Reddit and most tell you to buy one online out of pocket. I've been reading there's also wait times anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months if you don't buy onlinr

Bro it's the worst, and I can't get the mask to work. This week I've gone to bed at 5am on average, which is why I'm on this retarded forum a lot lately lol.
