Can't Stop Negative Thinking

I can't stop reliving negative things that happened to me. I'll think about a prior negative interaction or embarrassing moment and relive it in my head. Not even recent events. Things that occurred in high school or college. I'm in my 30s now. This has been happening recently.

Anyone else get thoughts like this? How do you get over them?

I went though a phase of negative thoughts once. Just try to remind yourself it’s just a phase and when your mind goes there, change it immediately.

Stop trying to change them

Instead, watch them

Allow them to fully rise and be there, but don’t get involved in them. Don’t judge them as good or bad. Don’t try to force them away. Just watch them. And when commentary about those negative thoughts arises in the form of new thoughts(dialogue etc), just watch those too.

Yes, I used to always mull over past events I wish I could change but can't. Just keep yourself busy with other stuff and you'll eventually forget about the past. And if it helps - no one cares about you nearly as much as you do, everyone is living in their own lil bubble. I still have to remind myself of that all the time.

Thoughts are all about past events, future expectations and momentum. You have to stop the negative momentum and increase the positive momentum, but that takes time. To do this, you have to be very aware of your thoughts and whenever you catch yourself thinking negatively, you have to gently talk yourself around. That's really all there is to it srs. And relax, it's all just a game bro. Life is not that serious.

Are you a manlet?
"The manlet is a savage beast that knows no moral bound. After falling in disgrace to a manmore, a ravaged manlet would not hesitate to come from behind and land a sucker punch/ swing with a rock to the back of a manmore's head. They are ruthless and you need to spend some more time in the gutter to even begin trying to comprehend what goes on in their minds."

Remember that we are all going to die anyway and in 100 years no one will give a crap about anything that happened today.

If it makes you feel any better the Bible says that all of this is "meaningless".

Ironically, link#2 is one of the many topics I try to school the degenerates on, but they are unwilling to learn.

You can recognize you are having negative thoughts and you want to do something about it. At least that's a start.

Pick a magic word like, "Whatever," "Who cares?" "Screw it!" "Oh well."

Every time a negative thought pop into your mind, say it out loud to yourself and make your mind understandthe boss says it's over.It works for me.

Just don't get too hard on yourself, we are humans after all. Good luck.
