Misc teach me how to invest. Successful people only...

If you had 20k in a savings account what would you do with it? I see the Dow is down big I’m wondering if this is the time to put money in something.

Didn’t have a father that gave me any financial advise...what should I do misc. give me a plan for retirement. What should I be doing every month?

Is that 20k part of your emergency fund or do you have money separate from that?

Dow is down today, but keep in mind we have been bouncing around all time highs the past 2 months.

This market is weird. The best move is probably just throwing in a certain % every week into SPY for long term.

There's two accounts you want to open. One is a Roth IRA which is for retirement. Max it out every year if you can (6k) and choose a target retirement fund.

The second account you'll want to open is a brokerage account. This is the one that you use to buy stocks and mutual funds. I use Vanguard but Charles Schwab and Fidelity are also good.

Well if I was father I'd tell you to use the money to put a down payment on a good house in a decent neighborhood. The great thing about a house is its something you get use out of everyday. It improves your life immediately. Stocks just sit there until you sell them...very few investments available today bring you the kind of value that a primary home can.

The two best investments you can make are in Real estate and a business because these give you the best tax shelter advantages through either depreciation and corporate tax structures.

There’s a very simple book called Tax Free Wealth that gives a very basic and easy to understand explanation of these concepts.

The most liquid and easiest way to invest is probably stocks and mutual funds

I don’t want to be. I want to get a house as soon as I can but this could be a good time to jump in the markets since it’s down

How to invest

1. Make friends with shady middle-upper and upper class people in a wide variety of industries

2. Suk miles of dik and become member of congress

3. You can now *legally* insider-trade

4. Stay in same job until 75, doing bare minimum work by only passing bills that directly benefit you and you friends
