Why aren't there chinese cars sold in the US?

I noticed a lot of stuff at the stores are made in china but I don't think I've ever seen a chinese car. I see cars made in mexico, the US, germany, japan, korea, france, italy, etc but no Chinese cars. Why? I think a cheap car or truck would be popular. Most the vehicles now aren't really designed to last long anyway and when I was reading about inflation and went down a rabbit hole of the cost of things over time, a Ford F150 from 1980 would cost $17k new in today's money. They're obviously not measuring inflation correctly if tons of things cost more today than inflation numbers say they should.

They're commies. No point in being inventive in a communist society.

They bought out the MG brand and have been selling those here. They also make a 'Chery' branded car which wasnt allowed to be sold because of the 1 star safety rating. Not to mention the Great Wall utilities.

Youre not missing out on anything mate
Would not buy/10

I bought a chinese cell phone and every account I've logged on through there has been hacked. It's performance kind of sucks and a lot of the things I was supposed to be getting were highly embellished. I'm sure their cars would be around the same.

This.

Everything the Chinese do is compared to knock off jordans.

I'm not advocating for chinese cars to be sold here. I'm super protectionist type and dont even agree with most work visas being given for foreign workers to come here, I was just asking. I bought a chinese generator that can run off gasoline or propane and it works surprisingly well for $400. The only problem I have is the carburetor is hard for me to take off because it is in a tight spot and I think they must have small hands or something in china. But other than that it has been working for a couple years now pretty well. And a lot of the power tools I have from china work alright. I would never trust something like a hydraulic jack or something though so maybe I wouldn't trust a chinese truck or car to be safe.

China is king of high production volume - let them stick to individual parts.

Would you really want to drive a car made to the same quality:quantity ratio as a McDonald's toy?

Are you saying that truck should be more?

No I'm saying there should be a basic version of truck that costs $17,000 new. Like the decked out ones in 1980 cost $5,200 new and when you put it in that inflation calculator it says $5200 in 1980 is $17000 in todays money. Or wages should be higher and we shouldn't have all these foreigners coming and bringing down the cost of labor.

I wish a company would make a basic entry level truck. Maybe get rid of airbags besides the front ones. Use cheap led tail lights. Cheap plastic molded interior trim. Cheap cloth seats with manual adjustments. Cheap metal where non structural like the door handle and exterior mirror mounts. I bought a portable radio for $9 on amazon with aux input. Why do car radios have to cost $50? etc. I just want a cheap truck that works and is easy to repair with cheap parts. Why cant they make this?
