Do kids trick or treat anymore?

Had like 20 kids come by tonight spaced over 4 hours.

When I was kid we used to skip houses because there were already a dozen kids on the step and we didn’t want to wait. You’d turn onto a street and see it packed with people up and down the sidewalks.

Chit’s lame as fuk. Half the kids don’t even say anything too. They just stand there with the bag open.

My kids go trick or treating. But with COVID this year, our whole neighborhood was pretty dead. Most of the houses left candy out in bowls so they didn’t have to answer the door, and there was hardly any kids out. It’s usually more busy than it was tonight
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

I just bought a house in a new area so didn’t know what to expect. Was hoping it would be busier than my old neighborhood. Was disappointed.

I make sure my kids say “trick or treat” “thank you” and “happy Halloween” at each house. Sounds like it’s the parents to blame if kids don’t say anything. They just send their kids out and tell them to get candy

This. Also, kids definitely still trick-or-treat. It’s just the giant fuking wet blanket that is Covid put a srs damper on Halloween. Here in LA, Halloween’s technically cancelled, & I haven’t had or even seen a single trick-or-treater. It’s some sad times, man.

20? Thats a ****in lot. I had 1 kid today. I felt like it started declining in 2010. In the 90s and erly 00s it was alotta kids

I remember the lines & skipping houses back in the early 90's as well. We were practically tripping over each other.

My neighborhood is usually slammed with trick or treaters. Large groups of kids. Neighbors all hold festivities while the kids are out. Streets blocked off. Decorations and fire-pits to warm up at. The whole nine.

This year many houses had their lights off, I'd estimate the turnout was roughly half of a usual Halloween. Many streets were empty with dark houses. Felt weird and obvious many people were playing it safe with covid.

I don't think kids have the same enthusiasm for Halloween, but the holiday isn't dead by any stretch. There's probably less kids these days as well.

Well covid, I didn’t let the kids go out. For the youngest we did an Easter egg hunt with candy

Ignoring the Wu Flu issue for a moment, I think trick or treat has become a school/church event now in many places. Helicopter parenting is probably to blame.

Yeah it's died down a lot. I used to see at least 100, and last year I think we got 25. Still some out there, but it's a fading tradition for some reason.
