5 Stages of Grief

This is pretty cool. I was reading to that apparently people who have lost something very important typically experience 5 stages of grief, but not necessary in order.

"Mainly, because people studying her model mistakenly believed this is the specific order in which people grieve and that all people go through all stages. Kübler-Ross now notes that these stages are not linear and some people may not experience any of them. Yet and still, others might only undergo two stages rather than all five, one stage, three stages, etc. It is now more readily known that these five stages of grief are the most commonly observed experienced by the grieving population."

You guys ever noticed these stages of grieving after a big loss? Did they happen at the same time? How long until you arrived at "Acceptance"?

yes -- went through this once when fired from my dream job

denial: tried to convince myself it wasn't a big deal ("lol their loss, what a bunch of clowns, that wasn't such a great company anyway")

anger: reached out to two of my direct managers like a fkn psycho, harassing them and threatening them

bargaining: reached out to friends around me to tell my sob story, get their feedback, hopefully have them tell me that "i'm in the right", and that the company was wrong for firing me

depression: woke up every day for like ~6 months wanting to fkn off myself, even after i had found a new (crappier) job

acceptance: at a much much better job now, and have learned that life has ups and downs, and that the company i work at doesnt define me (srs)

I'm not sure what trauma you are processing now big guy, but it sounds like you may be in an "Anger" stage. Hang in there bruh, I'm sure it will get better with time.

Op not sure what you're looking for. As a guy who does this (mental health treatment) for a living, the answer is: it depends.
It depends on how you think, feel and behave in relation to the loss.
The most succinct response I can give is:
- take care of yourself - sleep/eat/exercise healthy. Talk with your family.
Let yourself feel what you feel, don't fight it.
Do your best to combat overly negative thoughts (I'll never get through this) or behavior (drink to a stupor every night).
If needed, talk to a professional.

Take care.
It's never too late!

I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get to “acceptance” with the passing of my niece. I envy anyone who can get to that point with their experience.

Haven't lost anyone really close to me tho, but using stoic ideologies am prepping for/ imagining it.

I constantly imagine and visualize the worst possible scenarios. I used to freak out about bad news, bad things happening at work, etc but those things hardly register any more when you are prep yourself for the worst

The Kübler-Ross model is heavily disputed. There is no real evidence behind it.
Only in America could you find a way to earn a healthy buck And still keep your attitude on self-destruct

looks like you're in the denial stage...

Also, there's tons and tons of observational evidence to support a MODEL just fine lol.

Y’all notice ‘cope’ doesn’t appear in the stages, but I think it would fit nicely with bargaining or denial.

Anything y’all coping with today?
