Canadian brahs - anyone know if Canada Post processing plants operate on holidays?

I'm waiting on a package and my tracking isn't moving too much. Generally, I always notice my packages moving on weekends, but I don't know about holidays. Tomorrow is remembrance day here and I'm wondering if the processing plants will still be open. I believe Canada Post workers in the plants work 7 days a week, all year round even on holidays, and that only deliveries are not made on major holidays. Just thought I'd check in. I'm waiting for a package from the west coast and, judging by previous buying experiences, I should get it this week, but there's a holiday right in the middle of the week.

Thanks!

I had numerous wars with Canada post over the decades over 1000's of dollars worth of stuff lost. The main stations, like the ones in Mississauga, or Calgary are sill working. Even on weekends, late at night. Sometime I get scans at like 4 am. So for holidays they processing plants are still receiving mail, sorting it, putting it into the right bins etc. They just wait till next business day to load the truck to drive it to your local facility.

Oh sorry, I re read your post. Anytime after haloween till march Canada post is back logged more than anything. Also during these times they usually get REAL lazy with the scans, meaning your parcel is probably fine. You have many times during these times of year that I had 0 scans except that it was sent out, to receive it a day later at my door with 0 other scan. Canada post is bureaucracy at its finest.

Also not to be annoying, but what type of shipping? was it express post? I get a lot of stuff from Van city to Toronto. Usually with express post (i think its the second cheapest?) it usually takes a day, sometimes two to get to me. But not on fall/winter months

As per Canada Post Holiday Schedule:

https://www.canadapost.ca/web/en/kb/...d=murl07001089

Canada Post is closed on national, provincial and territorial holidays, with no collection or delivery of mail on those days.* However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.

*Regular collection and delivery of mail occurs on provincial Family Day holidays, Louis Riel Day (Man.) and Islander Day (P.E.I.).

Looks like it might take an extra day.

Thanks for the info. It was shipped expedited. BC to Ottawa pretty much. Usually it takes 3 days to travel from BC to Montreal, then gets sent out to Ottawa, then to my neck of the woods. I usually received these packages within 7 days. I'm just wondering if I can expect it by Friday so I can aim to be home. I don't really like leaving valuables in that community mailbox too long. It was shipped out Friday, the day I usually have these packages shipped out. I do so so that it's traveling during the weekend. It usually gets processed in Montreal and scanned on the Monday, 3 days after. It still hasn't been scanned in Montreal so I'm wondering what's going on.

Crown corp of peace for you. They are very hot and cold. Sometimes the delivery is quick and efficient, sometimes it's plagued by difficulties. Recently, I had what I believe was a replacement delivery person for another worker's vacation mark my package as delivered but it never got delivered. I had to get on the phone quickly to see if a mistake was made and it was left in a different mailbox. When I went to check later that evening, it was in my mailbox. What I figured happened was the guy just marked them all as delivered before actually delivering it.

From my experience they still move packages between sorting/forwarding locations, but they do not do deliveries on holidays. I typically use standard shipping, so this could be different for expedited service levels.

Good to know, thanks. So I'll assume my package will still be moving around even tomorrow during a holiday, just no delivery.
