Is there any benefit to quitting lifting for a few weeks/months?

Then getting back into it?
We are in lockdown so no gyms. I'm doing home workouts with resistance bands but it just feels like a waste of time srs, they just don't come close to proper weights.
Would I be better off quitting all resistance training for a few weeks until the gyms open again, probably after xmas? Do you get any 'noob gains' from the long layoff?

Depends, maybe you’re real beat up and 6 weeks can be the time needed to fully heal a nagging injury.

I’d recommend at least to continue stretching, and foam rolling though.

I wouldn’t want to take more time off than that unless I have a real serious injury where I couldn’t lift.

If you can’t get a good workout in with your own bodyweight and squats, you’re not trying at all. Pushups superset with band pullovers, band curls superset with overhead Tricep extensions, deep squats that just aren’t safe loaded and hip thrust until it feels like my ass is gonna fall off, calf raises on stairs till my gastrocs are on fire, sissy squats and Peterson step ups to torch the quads, banded lateral raises....

Yeah the options are endless.

Going from bodyweight for a few months to gym will still suck, but not nearly as bad as going from completely stationary to gym. Running, weighted vest pushups, pull ups, weighted vest squats, etc is all you need to stay trim. Some strength may go away, but overall muscularity and cardio wont

no you want to continue to use your muscles even if low weights so that the body still perceives them as needed and not expendable. It is highly costly energy wise to maintain muscle, so even in times of excess energy the body will not dedicate resources to muscles above that of which is required.

this will happen somewhat anyway, but the degree will be much worse if you do nothing at all

you'd get noob gains, but they'd just restore you to a point below that of which your currently at.
