Is everybody in your family an abusive piece of sh*t?
Everybody from mine is—and I was an abusive piece of chit too up until the age of 16—when I got myself under control and culled myself as what I saw a supreme weakness, vulnerability, and immaturity.

Having said that:
the family you're born into are often the ones that will hold you back first and most in life
if your sibling or parent is a toxic piece of chit then go your own way
it's extremely common for immediate relatives to bring you down, abuse you, all in an attempt to use you
parents often have it in the back of their mind that you owe them, you don't..
Focus on building your own family through procreation
Having said that:

My dad was never that. My mom and both of my sisters were. Once I grew to way over them, that changed. I will never forget that. How my dad was.

My family is great except for a few cousins that are scumbags. Everyone else is drama free.

Toxic for sure. SIMP, delusional, manipulative, blindly abusive, arrogant to the point of causing 99999999 problems themself while contributing nothing and dismissing anyone else who ever does anything they dislike.
They somehow think they're above me and talk down to me like you would a 2-year-old, except I outrank them in virtually every way - fitness, intelligence by a lot, elite career status, network, maturity, etc. I think idiots blindly "chit"ting on everyone they see with no global purchase on the world happens a lot.
They literally violently robbed me of everything within reach last time and tried to take the 'high road' versus me taking extra caution around them since.
I cannot babysit them when they're as combustible as they are. Any opening at all they will abuse endlessly, even with [serious] d.v. against my friends' children. They really need dealt with only in the safest social environments.

I put up with them until they crossed into the serious felony territory. My career, future and network would not survive around it.

My immediate family is great. Raised in a loving two parent household. I almost feel guilty knowing how lucky I am to be born into the family that I am.
It’s really interesting to me how children model their parents behavior. If you’re parents were abusive, I’m sorry. But try to have a little simpathy for them that they were likely abused in the same way as you by their parents.
The best was to break the cycle:
1) don’t have kids before youre married
2) work on establishing your self
3) individual therapy
And hopefully you aren’t attracted to psychos, and can find a good girl

Immediate family is absolutely amazing.
Mom is a nurse, stepdad is a foreman for a construction company (lol tradies)
Dad was a millwright.
All of them were incredibly supportive. Dad never missed a function (even my lame garage band shows).
For some reason it was my relationships I got into that were heavily abusive.
