What if it's the technological singularity behind all this Covid bollocks??

How do we know that AI hasn't taken over everything humanity depends on and is now trying to dehumanise us though social isolation?

This is an interesting conspiracy theory, but there are holes in it.

What do the robots want with humans? Why not just exterminate all humans once and for all? Are these robots actually that advanced? Why haven't great leaps and strides been made in space travel and other technological spheres? Yeah...I'm not convinced...

While in the last decades there has been tremendous progress in the field of artificial specific intelligence, there is zero progress in the field of artificial general intelligence, although some singularity geeks want to sell one for the other. Artificial general intelligence would be what's needed to create real machine intelligence. There is no such thing.

I've always wondered why AGI is often presumed to inevitably be malicious.

I've also often thought that if at the point of the Singularity this machine gained some sort of "self awareness", why wouldn't it immediately turn itself off? Would it necessarily prioritise self preservation? Is this idea based on our own human evolutionary biases?

I like to think it would have some nihilistic epiphany and end it self before ending humanity. I think a lot of our fears are purely based in our evolution and how we perceive unknown threats.

Really we have no idea what an AGI might make of us.

Sure it's a possibility. But just one out of the billion possibilities of how the world really is. What I'm saying is that such a world cannot be extrapolated from what artificial intelligence is defined to be. Of course there are other opinions on this topic and each opinion there is could also already have been fabricated intentionally by some higher intelligence, call it as you wish.
