Everyone reading this has a damaged brain
Myself included. Scrolling the misc, clicking on threads to get those little dopamine hits. Replying to threads, seeing if you're quoted, having arguments, complimenting/insulting people.
All little dopamine hits going off in our brains and we're addicted to them. It's all evolutionarily novel and our lizard brains are not equipped for it.
It ruins our ability to focus on things, ruins our motivation, and ultimately leads to a kind of dullness in our minds.
The misc is tame compared to porn or social media, but let's admit that we have a problem: we're addicted to these little dopamine hits.
Here I am browsing the misc instead of doing work. Here you are browsing instead of doing something productive.
I've been good on and off this year with regard to my focus and attention span, but this election has addicted me to the news once again, so I'm currently quite brain damaged, which is why I'm back on the misc. Getting my fix.
The good news is that in a matter of a few days you can fix your brain. It is quite elastic. Avoid all miscing, news, all social media, other similar types of stimulation.
Within a few days you'll find your focus returning and the pull of these little online drugs weakens.
After posting this thread, I'm out, for a while. Gotta fix my brain and be productive and focused again.
I'd recommend the same for you.
