How many hours can you all sleep at this point?

+ how old are you? I'm completely unable to 'sleep in' anymore. I always wake up at 5:30am even on weekends. No, I'm not a tradie. I don't have to be up that early. My dog and cat begin making a fuss at that time. The dog wants to be let out, the cat wants to eat. At most on a weekend if they're quiet and I fell asleep a bit later the night before, I can get out of bed more around 6-6:30am or so. I can't complain, though. I really do like getting up early and getting things done in the AM.

What about you all? What do your sleep schedules look like? Can anyone actually sleep in more than 7-8 hours?

I guess the lack of responses answers my question. People seem to be able to sleep in on a Sunday.

Same. As I mentioned, I can't really complain. I used to game all night until 4am and wake up at 10am and stuff like that. That was in my early 20s. Way too chaotic. My sleep hygiene now is generally really good.

I can't really do that. Not only do I start conking out at 9:30pm now, but my animals will begin waking me up around 5:30am regardless of when I go to bed. So, if I go to bed later, it's really brutal the next morning.

I usually get up at 430-445 (long commute) but if i ever get the chance to sleep in (rarely) i have no problem doing it, but if i sleep past 8am i feel like garbage all day.
On the flip side though I can go to sleep at 7pm if I want to and no problem sleeping thru the night, never have had that problem. My gf has issues sleeping all night, if i go to bed early i can sleep 12 hours like its nothing.

I usually get a full 8 during the week, in bed by 930 up at 530. No problems sleeping through the night and wake up feelin good. Weekends seem to be less because I stay up later but still cant sleep in past 6am. Getting a nice king sized mattress along with nice pillows and sheets go a long way. Although I have always been a sleeper so take that into context.

One thing I enjoy doing is getting to the bagel place early in the morning and grabbing a bunch of piping hot fresh bagels to bring back home, brew a nice cup a coffee and sit outside to enjoy the morning.

7-8 hours before I wake up due to hip and/or shoulder pain. It's not the mattress, I'm just old and beat up.

Usually to bed at 9 and wake up at 5.

If I'm on a normal schedule I don't sleep more than six hours a night. Right now I'm driving my husband to and from work though, and his schedule changes day to day, so, for example, I was up at 4am today and tomorrow I won't go to bed till 1am or 2am. That means a lot of nights I don't get more than three or four hours of sleep, so I wind up sleeping 9-12 hours on the weekend. But I feel lousy when I sleep more than 9.

I've never had any issues with sleeping other than work schedules, though. I can pretty much sleep anywhere, anytime.

I know a few people in their 30s that will sleep until early afternoon. They're essentially toddler-adult stoners with the lifestyle of adolescents with 0 responsibilities, though. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how one can feel good about working part time and spending most of your free time getting baked and sleeping 12+ hours a day while life passes you by. But, to each their own I guess.

It seems the general consensus ITT is that people have pretty quality sleep hygiene, which is what one would expect on a bodybuilding forum. Sleep is absolutely essential to making gains.

It's not, though. It's a conscious choice on their part to just sleep all day. I used to work the night shift as well and would sleep 7am to 1pm every day. These people don't work the night shift. They might fall asleep at 11pm but actively chose to stay in bed till past noon. I really don't get that. Don't you have things you want to accomplish?

Previously I was sleeping effortlessly 12 hrs. Now I suffer from insomnia for the past 2 years and my sleep is awful. I get maybe 1-2hrs fragmented sleep if I'm lucky.

I’m 27 and I sleep about 10 hours per night lol
I used to have insomnia (or still do, never fixed root cause).
I admit that I use “green” as a sleep aid now. Have been doing that for years. Without that though, yeah I’m up at 4.

7 hours on weekdays / 8 hours on the weekends

Sunday night through Friday morning - Fall asleep by 11 and wake up by 6.

Friday / Sat nights - cut off time is usually 1-2AM, depends on how tired and sleepy i get but I don't try to fight it.

Sleep an extra hour in the afternoon on weekends.

saw an interview about this recently. guy was talking about sleep and circadian rhythm. said that when you are in your teens it is normal to stay up late and sleep in, then as you get older you fall asleep earlier and get up earlier.

seems true ime for myself and family that i have known.

the senior early bird dinner special developed for a reason.

op if i sleep less than 5 i'm not really functional. usually get at least 6, sometimes 7 hours. generally awake at 5 or 6, coffee, breakfast around 10 or so. hungry for dinner around 4 or 5. unless i get woken up during the night and can't get back to sleep for a bit- slept 'til maybe 7:30 today. age: misc granny (no grandkids though, kid in high school)

So annoying. I can’t sleep more than 8 hours no matter what but then a few hours later I’m desperate to take a nap.

Thanks for all of the responses. This is really informative. We've been having some issues with our 10 month old puppy lately. She's always been great in her crate all night but recently she started howling once or twice a night and we can't explain why. I've gotten up a few times to take her out in case she really had to go but she just stands there staring at me. I'm 99% sure she's just doing it for attention now, so we've stopped actually going down and we just tolerate it. It's still extremely frustrating, though.

I used to have an extremely disordered sleep schedule and would frequently stay up later than I wanted to (because of lack of self-discipline), then wake up too late the next day. Struggling to get up with my alarm clock was a common occurrence. In college there were times I would get go back to sleep after a class two times. But at night, even if I had been exhausted all day, I would have trouble going to sleep.

Now I follow a much better sleep schedule but have trouble falling asleep again when I wake up. It's no longer easy for me to go back to sleep in the morning if I get up. I still don't have a particularly early schedule, though. I go to bed at 12:30 (now 11:30 since the time change) but I think it might be better if I stayed up later. Overall I think my sleep patterns are much better now, but there are times when I lie in bed awake for two or more hours. Taking melatonin and getting blackout curtains seems to have helped a lot. For a while I was waking up early every day after six or fewer hours of sleep, which was a living hell.

Age 26, used to get 6-7 hours on a good day due to a 1 hour commute back and forth. Leave house at 7:30am and get home around 8pm after work and gym. Had to rely on coffee and pre-workout to get through the day.

Now get 8-9 after cleaning up my sleep schedule, moving closer to work and working from home during quarantine.

Sleep really should not be neglected, especially if training
