A depreciating asset is an asset you can deduct taxes for but which is in fact appreciating. A real depreciating asset is not an asset.

I remember the "car meetup crew" from my local high school. Even after they graduated, they would dump all earnings they made into car modifications. Literally living at home and paycheck to paycheck because of the car obsession. I used to think it was crazy, but I look back at it now and realize those kids had 10x as much fun and life experiences as I did. They are also probably doing just as well, if not better financially than I am at this point, a decade later.
I suggest everyone read the book "Die with Zero", by Bill Perkins. It completely shifted my mindset on how to spend money from early twenties all the way through your old age. Spending should actually be shaped like a curve

Lol at being an insecure loser that needs a marketing agency to tell him when to buy a car and feel cool for doing it srs
Go buy your 2020 whatever model and justify it how you want. I'll continue to buy rental properties. One path makes you look wealthy to others, one creates actual wealth.

It is a depreciating asset by definition but that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it. Almost everything we buy in life is bought not with the expectation of appreciation in monetary value.

richest guy in my family drove like an 06 Camry until he retired and then got a 3 series. Net worth 8 figures easy. It's actually quite the opposite, it's usually poorcels spending money on cars they can't afford.

Depends.
You can slow the rate of depreciation by maintaining it properly. IE garaged, not driven in rain, snow, and high sun.
I been telling yall peasants that for the past 3 years.

That’s what I’m doing. $250/month payment doesn’t really matter to me, so why not have a nice vehicle?
