Just lol at "cover letters"

The biggest act of cuckoldry, taking the time to write out a paper on why you love a company that hasn't even considered hiring you yet, just so you can hopefully wage slave for them in the future.

I automatically disregard any company that requires a cover letter. They don’t even read them. Complete waste of time.

Even more pissening than the cover letter is the pre-interview technical task.

I've never once wrote or considered using a cover letter. It hasn't affected my ability to get a job ever.

Worse are the „challenges“ they have nowadays, they saw that google does them and thought their insignificant company with a few applicants is gonna do that **** for an subpar salary

best interviews are over within a couple of minutes, but the hiring manager has to be a good judge of character

the worst of the worst are product-centric companies who ask a ****ton of questions regarding feature ideas for improving their products

if you give them a lightbulb idea, they will take it and implement it regardless of your interview outcome

They all use the genetic template with the last paragraph customized toward the wrong application ROFL

To be fair, I read only about 1% of cover letters and I still see mistakes like the one above.

It’s over for people who paid for their degrees.

Cheers

I’ve seen a few companies for example the royal bank of Canada actually state when applying that they will not require a cover letter because they believe it’s redundant and a waste of time and want to make the application process easier on candidates and anything stated in the cover letter can be outlined during the actual interview.

I also hate when he online application makes you input your experience after you’ve uploaded resume. In this instance I’ve literally wrote “see resume” where I’m supposed to fill out experience.
thankfully most companies nowadays use those text scrapping automatic tools

although even that is redundant - we should ban CVs altogether and just have input of two things:

University/GPA and Work Experience

to be used for initial filtering and then interviews

because arbitrary skills sections and "Treasurer of X society" is just too much of a meme

Resumes are almost a waste of time too. It's all about networking and reputation. A resume is just the cherry on top and very important for recent college graduates with zero experience.
