Probably until the end of 2021 at most, i can't see how the governments will be able to enforce or culturalize mask wearing permanently without substantial push back.

People are already sick of it where i live and i'm seeing more and more people not wear masks.

It's just going to be that every year whatever novel viral mutation we're experiencing is going to be similarly blown out of proportion and masking mandates will be instituted in the name of public health.

I'm guessing the barring some major fail with vaccinations in Western nations, masking will let up over the next year.

A lot of people might voluntarily wear masks, Asian-style, for a long time. I'm guessing there will be a new neuroticism about hygiene in some corners that sticks with some people for a generation.

Once we have a larger supply of the vaccine will mask removal be acceptable.

By end of 2021, we will see changes in mandates. I expect once we can reach 80% of the country being able to get the vaccine, will they start to have things "normal" again.

Unfortunately it wont. Its the new normal. Theyve said on the TV news that once we take the vaccinations (youll need it to use any merchant services or transportation) we will still need to social distance and have gatherings no larger than 1. You dont just get freedom back once its gone I guess.

Sucks we were such pussies to let this happen.

My guess is cases will drop come spring (vaccine + normal spring drop in sickness), and many of these things like lockdown and mask will be backed off. Might come back in late fall of 2021, but I think it'll be less of a thing next summer than it was this summer.

As vaccines become more and more distributed less people will be wearing masks. By summer you’ll have a handful of people wearing masks and by fall nobody will.

2 very different answers.
How long until we SHOULD see things back to normal with no excuses VS. how long until things are allowed to go back to normal? Should? Mid to late February. By then all of the most vulnerable and health care workers who want to be will be vaccinated and therefore the fatality rate falls to what it is for everyone under 70 yrs old....half of the flu's death rate.

BUT.....
We're going to see people fully vaccinated reported as dying with Covid. Cue the "oh the vaccines don't work" nonsense. They do. But people with mere genetic material of this virus or a similar coronavirus (false positives) in their noses are automatically considered a "Covid" death. Doesn't matter if their terminal cancer or a bus killed them. Presence of the virus's genetic material, which can still happen with perfect immunity, can still be found. Therefore the numbers will be kept artificially high. There comes the pro-lockdown crowd and politicians, saying we need restrictions through the summer.

Depends on which city/state you live in. In a lot of places it already is like normal and nobody is wearing masks. No lock downs. Etc. Where my dad lives they never had any lock downs or masks worn. (Small town in Louisiana).



Where I live Costco and Hospitals/Drs offices seems to be the only place that's hardcore wear a mask. Pretty much everywhere else will let in customers without one.
