Bring on the hate and all the fun that comes with this topic!
Langley AFB, Virginia
I am trying to figure out where it is safe to live and avoid bad areas.
I tried putting myself into the shoes of somebody more unfortunate and pretend to be searching for section 8 housing.
Google will not give me any listings, do they do this on purpose cause they know people will use it for the opposite use and stay away from such areas?
I tried watching YouTube videos for the area and even the guy in the video said "since i am a realtor or works in realty" I can not disclose where people should/shouldn't live.
...also learned Mike Vick and Allen Iverson are Newport News locals.....which led me to find out avoid south Newport News
Are you allowed to straight up ask the local police for area crime statistics or places safe to live?
Next step I figured is googling whole foods and branch out from those spots.
Virginia top 10 worst crime spots sort of helped...Portsmouth, VA popped for number one and is about 36 min from base so that sucks.
Please give me some more logical searching ideas or websites please.

most cities have interactive stat crime maps on the local police website

Are you moving from the UK to Virginia? Hopefully the job pays enough for you to avoid the chit areas if so because you're going to be in for serious culture shock.
I just bought a house and made sure it was in the absolute lowest crime area after getting burned one time and buying in a million dollar hood full of home invasions

had my fun in California....then England....now Virginia time
but after three years seeing
-defund police
-peaceful protests
-blocking traffic
-riots/looting
-open confrontations between one another and only one side gets to make it to the news
i am putting 1000% into making sure i don't get a place to find out i just fuk'd up big time
