Who do you rate higher, philosophers or physicists?
These two disciplines are unequivocally the ones which have drawn the greatest minds to them. Who do you rate higher? Newton or Nietzsche? Aristotle or Archimedes? Schopenhauer or Schrodinger?

Philosophers
Physicists and their technology advance science, but they don't really benefit the Human condition, futuristic technology has no true benefit on people's deeper needs. Philosophers actually might give people motivation, or benefit their mindset/way of looking at life. To me that has power beyond sterile gadgets. Physics is boring as fukk and useless to 99% of people's lives.

Philosophy is chit tier (srs).
We can use maths and subsets of maths(logic) to invalidate philosophy.
Maybe we are not advanced enough in our maths to do that yet, but regardless philosophy is just a jerk off fest.

One of the most highly rated modern philosophers (Derek Parfit) spent 1000+ pages trying to show that "objective morality" is a thing.

I'm leaning towards physicist but it depends on their specific field to be honest, because at the highest levels of theoretical physics there isn't much difference from what they do and what philosophers do right?

I agree about postmodern philosophy, it's a bunch of snake oil salesmen. But I actually had more "analytical philosophers" in mind in the above post, they are the ones writing journal articles on extremely narrow topics using logic and arriving at strange conclusions. For instance, there was a "medical ethics" article a few years ago that argued that killing newborn babies is ok...

Physicists
While it's undeniable that there are many, many great philosophers who have had an immeasurable impact on the world, I think that broadly physicists have a greater impact. By this I mean, the aggregate of all contributions, from chit to God tier.
I say this with the caveat that my knowledge of both topics is recreational and casual at best. I just think that mid tier physicists > mid tier philosophers and that perhaps this can be extrapolated to all ranges

So youde jureare working entirely in the material world sure, butde factoyou're making presumptions about the physical world that may or may not be correct.
The idea of the 'aether' is another good example, the assumption certainly helped advance the field (even correctly occasionally) but it was fundamentally based on faulty presumptions.
I get what you're saying though I'm not trying to split hairs.

Philosophers in the 21st century are just a waste of oxygen but they used to do cool **** and basically were physicists in the way they tried to understand the world

We can use maths and subsets of maths(logic) to invalidate philosophy.
Maybe we are not advanced enough in our maths to do that yet, but regardless philosophy is just a jerk off fest.
