It’s the only logical conclusion.

If you believe that one day we will have the technology to create perfect VR. The chances that we haven’t already done so is 1 in billions.

We could even be a simulation inside a simulation

The simulation has run out of processing power IMO. That’s why we are being locked in our homes. I can’t handle 7 billion people travelling and having new experiences.

If we live in simulation... so what? If we are computer programs then there is no "us" outside of it and so no escaping it. If there is no escaping it, why is it concerning?

I think its a neat idea but at the same time a distraction from the more pressing and "real" things one needs to deal with in day to day life.

I think the sim we are in is a testing ground for experiments.

They unleash all kinds of crap to us to make them perfect and when it finally is they give it to real people living in real world.

I mean if it’s a sim you start to think about religion. Is it an experiment about how people follow the laws ? How it’s handed down? Giant experiment in how people react so they can make a new world with a perfect religious system to promote optimal human behavior and get rid of degeneracy?

It’s odd that we’ve weaned through so many types and ideas of religion but only a few major one survive. Jews/Christians/Islam all explore one major religion in three different ways. Then Buddhism.

Will they ever figure out the best way to set up a perfect human society?

It’s an interesting theory for sure. Let’s just say that it totally depends on which side you are on and whether or not these punks get lucky or not.

As with sim theory, religion is a cope and a distraction from reality.

Didn't watch the video because ain't nobody got time for dat.

But also, if this is a simulation, how do you know the next higher level of reality isn't one, too? And there aren't actually infinite levels of simulation, each less "real" than the one they're contained within?

Don’t worry, Timmy. Those daily showers with your old man are very very real. As are the bars of thick heavy soap you drop.

This is exactly how I see it.

If it was possible that we were living in a simulation, it wouldn't matter to us regardless.

the creator of the simulation theory says as much.

its really just a though experiment loosely based on some fermi paradox-like assumptions.

in a galaxy, if life is not nearly impossibly rare, then life must happen maybe 100 times in the milky way. it is trivial for a technologically mature society to populate the entire milky way within geological timescales.

do these civilizations go extinct, or hide, or is life impossibly rare.
