If you have a telescope or binoculars get out there ASAP. Saturn and Jupiter can be seen in the same eyepiece, just viewed at 100x in my front yard. Absolutely mind blowing; you can see with your own eyes how much further Saturn is from Jupiter + Jupiters moons. This probably all sounds underwhelming to a normie but seeing Saturn’s rings with your own eyes will already change your perspective. It’s nothing like pictures; it’s actually ****ing there. Then throw Jupiter into the same frame..........holy chit there’s so much out there

It's been 800 years since they were this close to the naked eye (another one just as close happened in the 1600s but during the daytime)

I will take out my refractor soon. Maybe figure out how to use the Reflector too. I've seen both Jupiter and it's moons and the rings of Saturn.

I think 6 planets are visible in the northern hemisphere currently.

Pluto is a planet crew checkin in.
I have sampled every language and French is my favorite to curse in.

You’ll need about 50x magnification to see Saturn’s rings...absolutely stunning with Jupiter and it’s moons in the foreground

Just sold a 20” bod my dad built back in the mid 90s. Ded fukn srs
I’ve viewed the deep skies in that as well as an 8” many a night.
He also had an 8” mead reflector. Much better detail but smaller images.

Have an 8" dob and a good 5mm eyepiece, but skies are cloudy for a few nights. Should have a decent shot at Christmas weekend though.

Did get to take a decent look at Mars the other week, though.

Bout to buy a 16” dob...problem is I live in one of the largest cities in the US...would need to drive 5 hours to get to dark skies. When I was younger there was no better bliss than just scanning the skies for galaxies/nebulas. Was beautiful

But this conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn is pretty nifty as well.

Lmao wife used her iPhone, mine was charging.
I was talking chit to her saying it wasn’t going to get it at all but the pic turned out way better than I expected considering I’ve tried snapping star pics out at Big Bend and it didn’t show anything but darkness.
