How did lifting change your life?
So how did lifting change most of you miscers lives?
Tbh I can’t answer this question because I was lifting since I was 16 so don’t really know life before lifting, so no real mode of comparison.
I used to be a RuneScape player/ps3 addict before lifting weights and gave me some confidence when I was a teenager.

I've been lifting since I was 17 so it's hard to say it changed my life. It's helped me because it's a huge stress relief and it's kept my body healthy as I've aged. I'm 51, extremely healthy and not on any meds. I won't be a little old granny falling and breaking bones, that's fo sho.

Stress relief. There’s something cathartic about lifting heavy weight.

Started when I was 14, now 28. Again, it’s hard to say when it’s something I’ve been doing for so long.
One thing I can say though, is that it humbles you. Doing it for so long, you see a lot of people come n go. You meet a fair number of people that are ego-driven; most last at most ~ 4 years then quit because of injuries or other reasons. I think anyone that can continue to do this year after year, will soon appreciate it’s a long term commitment vs short.
I regret nothing I’ve done gym wise and I’ll still be doing this in my 60’s.

Lifting nearly 40 years now.
I think lifting help me not to change rather than to change, in a good sense.
It helps me focus on what I could do instead of what I can't do.

I hadn’t lifted in a long time by 2012, and lived with my cousin and her husband. He was abusive and beat me up consistently. I joined 24 hour fitness in 2012 and started lifting religiously. I took weight training in junior college, and by 2017 I had bigger arms than him and I was stronger than him.
I started standing up for myself and knocked him out one time for thirty seconds during a fight. Every time he started trouble with me I stood up for myself and beat him up. I’ve moved away from those people and live in a a safer environment now, but being able to fight was the way lifting changed my life the most, for the better.

Honestly I'm one of the guys that fades in and out of the lifting lifestyle. The first few months getting back into it after a sustained break are always fun, getting that muscle memory and strength back, but I always found that at the 12-18 month mark I start to see the diminishing returns with respect to the amount of time I'm devoting to lifting versus the strength and aesthetic gains.
Who knows, I've been back lifting seriously again for about a month now, my kids are older, my job is stable, maybe it becomes a lifetime habit this time around.

It didn't really.
I got girls as a twink and it's just as easy now. My confidence came from age and experience.
I just do this chit for fun and so I'll live a long life.

Gave me the confidence I never had before. Kept the confidence even after I became a non-lifting *******.

Best thing I've ever done
can't measure how it changed my life, it's a compound (heh) effect.
Off the top of my head, made some cool friends in the gym and made decent money out of it

In my early 20s, my sternum started randomly cracking...like how some people randomly crack their knuckles. It got louder and more frequent until I started lifting. Then it stopped completely. My lifting has been inconsistent for a while, but that cracking never returned.
I'm #12 in Y2J's "club"...and I'm scared.
This week on The Buff and the Beautiful: Colleen comes up with a new scheme to win over Carlos. But first she has to gain the trust of her captor.

I found lifting forces me to keep my diet correct
brb haven’t met one vaxcel who doesn’t get defensive or mad when you tell them you didn’t get it.
No “vax” for HIV after 40 years of research. No vax for cancer after 100 years of research. No vax for the common cold and yet a virus mysteriously appears and Within 12 months a “vax” is found by 4 pharma companies all within 1 week and we are mandated to take it ….

I started lifting in my 30's... and became a natural bodybuilder not too long after I started (non-competitive). When you're a woman and you have good muscular development, people look at you differently- they respect your accomplishments and strengths in this arena because it IS harder for a woman to make significant gains. I just became a fitter and stronger version of my previous self and began doing some acrobatics and tumbling again (up until the pandemic- gymnastics mats are a good invention). I know I'll get back to it after the gyms are safer.
Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.
Let's show RESPECT for the POLICE and ALL FIRST RESPONDERS by helping to keep THEM SAFE AND SOUND, and thereby able to PROTECT US!
