Just once. It was to get paid to sing. Was at a karaoke bar and someone there asked that I sing My Way for his wife. Tipped me $10 afterwards. Best night ever.

I don't make New Years resolutions because I try not to procrastinate in the first place.
If I need to do something I'm not gonna wait til New Years, I'm not trying to wait period.
I know bad habits are really hard to break and people need all the help they can get.
If your bad habits are bad enough, you're probably not gonna break them on the first, or even second try.
So then if it's so hard to break a bad habit what's the point of waiting around for a specific date?
It's counterproductive, you need all the attempts at breaking habits you can get, waiting around doesn't help anything.

Knowing that it's a "New Years' Resolution" instills a date in the head (like 12/31 or 01/01) for the last time you did something you were trying to change.
Whenever I tell someone I'm going to commit to some New Years resolutions, or New Decade resolutions, I also simultaneously try to start doing those things weeks ahead of time if possible. If you start before the New Years, you make it that much easier to maintain the good habits, perhaps get over some withdrawal issues, etc. And if I drop the ball here and there, it's OK because I'll commit Jan 1st and beyond. That date being instilled in my head motivates me. Others knowing what I'm signing myself up for holds me more accountable than if others don't know about it. I don't want to showcase a lack of discipline. It'll be rewarding in February, March, and beyond to say "yeah I haven't done X Y Z" or "I've started doing X Y Z" since Jan 1st.

Every month they change. For january is stop smoking first week then continue running 3 miles x 3 a week and make better investments. Also no gambling and no wasting money on pointless chit. Pretty generic i no.

Good luck my miscers on all your resolutions and goals in this year and beyond.
Another of mine that I've been working on is just being as kind as possible to other people, whether online or in person.

Good posts itt, reps off rc
I have a good feeling about 2021. I think it will be a year with a lot of opportunities.
Personally I set myself a long term vision, then break it down yearly, quarterly then onto the montly/weekly goals basis. We're all gonna make it.

Hell yes I do. At the start of 2020, I set the goal to ride 1000 miles on the cycle at the gym. I would have gotten it done in about 2 ~ 3 months had it not been for COVID. I recently completed this challenge a couple of weeks ago.
My next goal is to row on the rowing machine for 1,000 miles. Currently sitting at 418 miles on the rower. I'm also planning on doing the Mount Everest challenge on the Jacobs Ladder, inspired by David Goggins.
Career wise, my 2021 goal is to switch to a new career path. I currently work as a finance manager and I see the writing on the wall, I can't do this type of work anymore.

I’m constantly making goals, but I like to set some for what I want to accomplish within a given year.

No resolutions here - I found I tended not to keep them because they weren't that important since they were things I had put off doing previously.
I try to live with the approach of getting it done without excuses if it's important to me.
