Well? How many people are you comfortable with dying and at which point would the current measures and full lockdowns be justifiable?

Toll doesn't matter. What matters is fatality rate. The current rate is basically non-fatal for under 65. If you're over 65, stay at home, social distance, where a mask, and wash your hands. Wait for the vaccine. Everyone else live their lives.

lmao at "death toll'

you know those numbers are pumped up right?

They test dead bodies for covid with an extremely sensitive test, that in the opinion of many virus experts is too sensitive.

You die of a heart attack. You had covid a month ago or you never had it at all but were in proximity of someone with it because gee you were in a hospitol, now on the 40th amplification cycle they find fragments of the virus in your dead body, even though you were not contagious at that point and either never had it or survived covid.. boom covid death, the hospital gets extra money and the public panics.

This is how it actually works.

Covid doesn't justify a lockdown of anyone under 60. Over 60 yeah sure be super careful until it blows over

Internationally there hasn't been much of a correlation between locking down and death tolls.

Look at the UK. England has massive excess mortality from covid, Northern Ireland barely has any, even though they have had the same government and the same lockdown policies.

I'm sure mother nature would say as many as necessary in order to get back to a harmonic balance. Maskcels should know that since they're all about science.

Oh yeah despite all the media coverage I keep forgetting how crucial beaches are to spread of the virus.

As with everything, balance.

We cannot stop the virus, the amount of power and control necessary to do so would be absurd. Conversely, if a virus strain emerges that is unusually deadly (covid?), we should react. I picked 50 million, because 100M wasn't an option, and while we might benefit from 500 million dying, that would be too little care if you ask me.

Fair point, it would make for another thread, "what death rate would miscers be comfortable with before sacrificing their freedoms"

It's just a hypothetical to see how many people are miscers are comfortable sacrificing before sacrificing their freedoms. I know the numbers are pumped up and I know we can't do much in face of the measures brahs.

Speaking of beaches, I saw a Spanish beach being sprayed with bleach to protect the area from covid.

This is true, it's mostly throwing chit at the wall hoping it sticks, again the poll is just a hypothetical.Interdasting.

Solid points, it was just to see what the price of freedom is to different miscers. I picked let nature run its course, but I still think that we should try to "fight" a virus if it is deadly enough.

for this flu aka less severe symptoms than an actual flu, the current measures and lockdowns will never be justified lol

there are worse health problems like cancer and brain injuries that have been issues for decades
There is only one Hell: the one we live in now.

No lockdowns are acceptable if you're pre-retirement age. The death totals were too low at first, they're way overblown now. By tens of thousands. Even so, it's mostly killing people with one foot in the grave already. The lockdowns are now killing at least half as many people as Covid itself is, and they're on average decades younger. A lot of people are dying WITH Covid, not FROM Covid. People are testing positive months after they never knew they were infected. Quarantine the elderly, not society at large. 1 million is acceptable because the numbers are already part fiction. And the part that's truth is people who knocking on heaven's door as is.

This. If you're over 65 you're getting Social Security and Medicare anyway. It would have cost us a hell of a lot to even supplement them monthly while the rest of us went on with our lives. If any parent isn't livid by now, they should consider giving their kids up for adoption. Kids are getting screwed for 2 school years in a row. I always respected teachers, but not after all this.

Letting nature run its course shouldn't even be an options guys, get real here. If you had zero controls in place and let this thing run rampant, healthcare systems would be completely overrun and we'd see a massive spike in deaths from all the people who need care for other things that typically put people into hospitals. That's when chit would really get bad, when hospitals don't have the labour / materials / equipment to deal with the day-to-day requirements on top of a novel respiratory virus that's putting people into hospital beds for three weeks at a time.

Health authorities are monitoring trends in new cases and bed availability, and they're the entities consulting with governments to institute lockdowns where required to prevent exactly ^^ that from happening. The last thing we want is doctors and nurses being so overloaded that they need to choose between saving a COVID patient or that dude who just came in mangled from a car crash

Way too many people on this planet, and the vast majority contribute nothing remotely original. I'm hoping COVID eliminates around 75% at least, the world would be much better off.
