If I wanted to start a social media platform along the same line as the ones on the title of this thread, how would I go about it/start? I've an idea for a platform but not very knowledgeable on this kind of thing. Capital needed to start small, know-how, etc?

Doesn't matter, your webhost would shut you down. You'd need to be a multi millionare and set up your own hardware and software infrastructure across the entire US.
