Why are city people so rude and country people so friendly?

In the city people are ruthless and uncaring no matter where you are. In the country it's way difference, people smile, are friendly and talkative.

Also city women are way too vapid and materialistic, a woman from the south is way more charming

way more scammers in the city imo...lots of people begging for money, some of them look like they going to drive off in their lexus to their home in richmond hill after they collect a couple hundo. Also lots of crazy people, so after a while you get used to ignoring everyone.

I think it's more indifference. City dwellers care, they're just not going to go out of their way to make you feel seen, no one has time for that. That was my experience anyway.

People aren't really that different is just that country/small town life kinda forces you to be outwardly nice otherwise word gets around that you're a prick and people will ostracize you. It's not like the city where most people are strangers to each other. If you say or do something rude to Jim Bob chances are he knows where you live and will come whoop your ass.

This.

City life is much faster paced and people are just in their own bubble going about their day. Most people will be friendly if you interact with them and those who are rude, it's like Vexidi said, there aren't many repercussions being rude in a place where you are just one face out of millions.

Country life is slower and people take the time to be aware of and enjoy their surroundings. This includes being friendly with strangers.

This is a good point. In rural areas, there are so few people, but the people there all know each other for years. When a stranger comes to town, they stick out. Cities are filled with strangers that you may never see again

This is actually a good point. I've never lived in a super small area but there are areas where everyone knows each other by names, would never want to live there. I actually do prefer city life even though I am not a lib.

I think it depends on the city. East coast, yes. But people on the West coast city people like LA, SF are also nice to your face and talk behind your back.

I have had this experience in lots of "small towns" its really just full of drugs, racists, extremist conservatives, and people looking to **** with people for amusement and dwell on drama.

I live in deep east Texas and I think a lot of our problem is the Louisiana coonass culture mixes with the crazy redneck and creates a perfect storm of dumb ass.

I've had the exact opposite experience. People were alot friendlier in the city likely due to being surrounded by others all the time. When I am in small towns, i notice people are more distant and not as nice

lmao wtf is LA coonass culture? From the sounds of it alone, it sounds like a terrible combo.

I think people in cities just don't care how they come across to most people because they have no relationship with them whatsoever. Everyone's a stranger, especially in megacities like NYC that have a reputation for being prick-like. There's less of a need to save face with every interaction.
