My 7th grade English Mrs. Brooks(nee Aaron) was his niece. She would bring some of his memorabilia to school...She must have had the glock in her car, because that chit had to be worth a small fortune. As 11 year olds she'd talk about him and no one really cared outside of him being a famous baseball player, and despite being so young we could see how much she really loved and respected him. He recorded a VHS message that she played for all of her classes telling us to stay in school, and try to be the best person we could be.

No, the article was just to show his general disagreeableness and seeing everything through a racial lens.

The Nation is a far left magazine. Of course it was going to be an article deifying him for seeing racism everywhere. My point was that "seeing racism everywhere" was who he was. It's not just him. See, that's where we disagree. Your life experiences absolutely shape who you are, and how you view the world To say "Suck it up, and let it go" is a huge slap in the face. You're talking about men who grew up in the height of the Jim Crow era, who's perceptions and views of the world we shaped through a segregated lens. They saw, felt, and experienced chit that neither one of us could imagine. It's no different than someone who was robbed by a black person, and now clutches their purse every time one walks by. He is in line to break a record, and receives death threats...The Atlanta Journal wrote a preemptive obituary just in case he turned up dead. We're not talking about me, someone born in 82' and outside of being called the n-word hasn't experienced any hard racism. We're talking about a that man endured decades of it, and it made him cold.
