Anyone else a proud alcoholic here?

Although alcohol is not exactly a saviour from the life misery and tragedy, but it does make the time fly away smoothly added with nice food, music is a necessity and sometimes a woman. And yes few extremely happy moments here and there.

Im always drinking in my free time, I am a proud alcoholic but I do maintain distance between work and booze.

If I go full alcoholic, it will be a lost cause down the line and I won't be able to continue drinking. So i keep some kind of balance, I still work full time.

Lay off the booze bro, alcohol is essentially a crutch for social anxiety. Nothing good has ever come from being an alcoholic. Not sure you understand the consequences of drugs and alcohol abuse but you should read up on it. You're not the first person to glorify alcohol.

I understand the dangers of alcohol...but I am drinking regularly since 2006...I have quit a few times, but then life is more sad.

Alcoholism has a pretty specific meaning, I don't think you have it. Do you go through withdrawals if you stop drinking?

Yes periods of extreme anger, although I keep the anger to myself...anxiety, feeling of hopelessness and emptiness in life...

I get it man but remember there are millions of people who went down that same path and things did not end well for them. Take the path where you challenge yourself to overcome whatever is causing you to drink in excess. You'll thank yourself for it one day

Looks like you're heading in that direction, bro. I would lay off the sauce, full blown alcoholism isn't pretty. Youtube Delirium Tremens, I know somebody who experiences that if he so much as looks at alcohol now, it's messed up.

It definitely sounds like you have a problem.

Have you tried AA?

Of course coming off of alcohol is going to be more sad and suck initially. It does with any drug (and alcohol is a legal drug).

Do not go cold turkey on your own if you do quit: you can die. I’ve seen it in AA and last year a judge told my client she could not see her kids if she drank again during her court hearing. She died from withdraw the next day.

Medical detox may be needed. The longer you drink the higher your tolerance will get and the higher risk of DT will happen that can cause cardiac arrest, stroke, seizures, pancreatitis which can kill you, liver damage and some many other things, late stage of alcoholism you can literally have so much inflammation in your eso****us the blood vessels burst and you puke up blood and die

But I know from my own experience you have to hit rock bottom to get better or choose to die or be institutionalized

The only thing I don’t like about alcohol is it makes you fat. Everything else I like. I sleep so good after drinking a couple beers.

I've never understood people who sit and bang out a rack of light beer. It doesn't taste good, doesn't give you a buzz and makes you fat. I've never counted down the hours until I could have a glass of wine and gin and tonics don't taste that great after 2 and the quinine makes the stomach feel funky.

I love the taste of scotch, but it doesn't love me back anymore.

Have fun, OP, just remember when the doctor orders you for some tests because of weird bloodwork numbers, remember your thread.
