see pic attached for evidence. Also found a rock matching the size of the hole in the glass in between my main and glass door. no pic of that. There are rocks near the bushes outside all the buildings.It's part of the landscaping.

I live in a gated rental complex. Never had any issues with criminal activity in about 3 years since I moved in. I've felt very safe living here.

I was chilling on the couch downstairs in the living room ( close to the front door, only one door to get in and out of my place) in the late afternoon, broad daylight. Trying to fall asleep listening to YouTube on my phone. I hear a LOUD boom near the door, I'm like WTH. I get up, go to the door, nothing fell off the shelves or anything inside. I look in the peephole of the door, I see shattered glass lines in the hole, no one at the door. No one tried to open my main door. My screen door is always unlocked.

I open the main door, my glass screen door is WRECKED M8. Looked like a rock or baseball was thrown close range direct hit at the door. It even scratched my peep hole from the outside

This had to be intentional, none of my neighbors doors or windows were hit. My door is no where near any ballfields. The complex playground is way too far and out of line with my door. The kids in the complex never play with rocks. And they've never been disrespectful to me before. And they never get close enough to my door. They hang out on the street or playground way out of of a straight shot line from my door. This was not a stray shot, the hole on the glass would have been at an angle and not as impactful. I saw some kids ( the same ones that look familar) and adults hanging out outside but nothing unusual or suspect. My screen door was already unlocked. And no one tried to open my main door, so it wasn't a break in attempt. If it was someone getting chased by someone trying to throw a rock at them, I would have have heard people's voices or yelling. That's not a silent activity.

Filed a police report and everything is ok now. I have no beefs with anyone in my complex.I keep to myself and so does my wife.

So any theories on motives ??? No beefs or confrontations with neighbors, not a break in attempt, wasn't an accidental stray hit from people horsing around.

I will say though, there are some weird neighbors that'll look and stare at me or my wife from a distance but don't speak to us and we don't speak to them.

?I don't live in the hood, but there are strange people around, but not on a criminal level. I would've moved a long time ago if it was truly a ghetto living environment. This is anomaly of my 3 years living in my current home.yeah, they're a piece of feces who ever they are.yea for sure, wake up call for me, any recommendations?

if any one could also recommend any affordable home security cam systems for a small place?

That was happening in my city as well a little bit ago. There were probably 15 cars that had rocks thrown at them including a cop car in one area for a week. Probably just doing it to look "cool".
