Watched "Midsommar" the other day. Has anyone here seen it?

From the dude who brought us Hereditary. It was something like 2.5 hours so I watched it in a few instalments.

Basically, my reaction through the entire thing..

*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

I also didn't think it was that great. Seemed kind of pointless overall. I get what he was trying to do with the themes of grief, family, community, etc. But it sort of fell flat.

For people who have seen both, how does it compare to Hereditary? That was one the best moves I’ve seen in a while and have been contemplating watching Midsommer ever since.

Synopsis: white guy gets cucked by gf he wanted to finish with, but didn’t have the heart to, because she suffered a family bereavement is then pressed into going to weirdo commune.

He gets drugged and has sexors with another chick against his will. GF sacrifices him and joins cult.

Verdict: Scandinavian style cucking because white man bad, yes all whammen.

Hereditary is very different than Midsommar. I was legit watching Midsommar waiting for a big event but instead it was like a slow burn that just kind of kept going through the movie. Not terrible but different. And some decent parts.

Hereditary was better though in many ways, never mind a couple of legit WTF moments that surprised the hell out of me. Midsommar didn't really have that.

I loved it, I loved the mystery of just WTf was going on and what sort of demented **** was happening behind the scenes and you slowly have to soak it in and figure it out. The acting and cinematogrophy were amazing as well.

Very much like a remake and retelling in a different way of The Wicker Man, way better than the Nicolas Cage version. If you watch the original it is much more similar to Midsommer than the chitty remake.
