Beer brewing brahs - you boyos mirin' this German lager I brewed?
Technically, it's a Munich Dunkel. I've only ever brewed one lager before (a Vienna lager) and was up for another challenge. This "lagered" (cold storage) for 10 weeks.
Overall, it's a nice beer. It's crisp, light, and easy drinking. It has a slightly caramel taste from the munich and darker malts I used. Beautiful clear brown color with reddish hues when looked at with light. It's really clear - so clear one can read through it. That's what a 10 week lager will do, I guess.
The only flaw I perceive is that it didn't carb as aggressively as I would have hoped. I erred on the side of caution for a number of reasons when adding the priming sugar. I slightly undershot but it's still fine. The carbonation is just a bit softer.
Any other beer brewing brahs here?

How much do you make at a time?
And is it saving you money or just a hobby?
How does it compare to store-bought?
How much money do you have in your setup and how much space does it take?
Mirin and repped. I roast coffee myself but I think this would take much more space and time than that

I've gotten my beers pretty close to microbrewery versions I've had. One of my IPAs once won a silver medal at a large homebrew competition.
I haven't put that much money in my setup. I can't really remember, maybe less than 200$ in gear? It's not high-tech. I have this thing for maximizing quality and output off minimal gear.

Niice, the beer looks good.
Idk anything about brewing, other than what my buddy would tell me. He's a heavy drinker so brewing makes sense for him, but what he enjoys most is making his own whiskey. He had showed me a white oak wood barrel that he is using right now to age a batch of whiskey, it's been sitting there for about 2 years now.
Pretty neat hobbies.

While you can brew a 5 gallon batch and end up with 50 or so 12oz bottles of beer for much less money than it costs to buy a similar quantity of commercial craft beer, it turns out like most hobbies and you end up getting into upgrading your equipment, adding equipment to help brew certain styles, etc., and it doesn't save any money at all. Just depends on whether you go down the hobby rabbit hole or keep it strictly utilitarian.

Mead looks good, never had it, but from what I read it sounds tasty. Honey, water, and fruit, spices, etc. What the hell do you do with all that surplus liquor if you don't drink lol

That’s fukking awesome, OP. I almost only ever drink German beers. I got an Oktoberfest brewing kit for Christmas a couple years ago, but I haven’t attempted home brewing yet.

Homebrew brah checking in. Got a 4 tap keezer setup with a Nut Brown, a Hefeweizen, a Spiced Oktoberfest (ale version), and a Mango Habanero Amber. Not my best work with any of them as I had just moved into a new house and rushed everything to get the stock up. I need to brew another one soon, but time has been hard to come by recently.

[QUOTE=lightsarefallin post_id=1630379703]Technically, it's a Munich Dunkel.

I think I mostly brew for the creativity, the experience, and the challenge. It's a lot of fun. I've brewed some pretty wild beers. My last one last year was a chocolate coffee milk stout.

The other was a similar kind of hazy IPA brewed with copious amounts of guava and mango and fermented using a 'wild' Saccharomyces strain of yeast that produced pretty potent pineapple esters during fermentation.
