hell yeah, finally! have sunk hundreds of hours into TWW1 & 2, can't wait for this. that khorne heavy cav looked juicy, and the Cathay tease at the end was cool too. Wonder if that will be the first dlc. Looks like kislev and chaos for the starters.

I haven't followed these games much but what exactly new is there to do? Aren't the first 2 pretty graphically good (as in a modern game) and don't they have all the armies and units that exist in the tabletop?

Basically all I'm saying is I want a 40k version. Seems like a huge miss (but more likely a licensing issue)

edit: actually after reading, apparently TW:WH2 is basically a standalone expansion that can be combined with TW:WH1 for a Mortal Empires campaign. I wonder if TW:WH3 will be another expansion ?

They still don't have all the races in the game from the original fantasy tabletop. This 3rd installment will hopefully capture the rest through further dlcs, like ogres and nagash and the evil dwarfs (forget their name off top of my head).

So each game stacks on top of one another, and further adds to an already massive map. You can buy 1 or 2 and it can be a standalone game by itself, but if you have both you will have a campaign option to play to overall combined map. Same with this 3rd game. New lords, new lores of magic, different game mechanics. I bet the overall campaign will take dozens of hours to complete, with just one faction. and competitive play on ladder will be shaken up as well.

Ya it would make sense for a 40k game from TW. There would be too much money left on the table for them not to do it. I played both 40k and fantasy on tabletop back in the day, and i will say up to this date 40k has gotten the shaft on video games. Dawn of war sucks, as do most others

I wish they'd just buy the rights to Lord of the Rings already. There is no better setting for a Total War game then LotR
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

I actually edited before your response, I googled what the difference was and I didn't even realize that's how it worked. So that's pretty cool if its all backwards compatible, or maybe not if they are full priced expansions? Idk but yeah I agree 40k has been neglected in terms of games. Dawn of War was definitely not it, they need something large scale like Total War.

They are actually going to make the entire Warhammer map because they are adding Cathay. Cathay i.e. Warhammer's China, probably be a big faction too. Only land masses they can add are Nippon and Ind (Japan and India respectively)., and those will probably be DLC factions.


Once Mortal Empires hits 3, it will be the definitive Warhammer game.

The game will be huge once they are all linked up together. I did the mortal empires campaign on warhammer 2 using the lizardmen and it took me around 80hours.

I assume you are aware that the campaign is meh and it is all about Immortal Empires. If you liked 2 then you should like 3.
Chaos factions are now probably the most fun faction to play. Completely different from 2. It's another level.
Only disappointment is that Dark Elves which were my fav faction from 2 had a slave mechanic overhaul and i dislike it.

Waiting for them to reveal what they are going to to with Ind and Kuresh before I buy.

Have 1 and 2 and most dlc. I will buy 3, its just a matter of when.




Also I think there is an amazing game mode that they can add when all is said and done. They should add a Halfling faction. This would be the "hard mode" of the game. Because halflings are usiually drunk, stupid and weak. They would almost be like the merchant type of faction where you win with economics and mercenaries. Probably a good time to add dogs of war

Dark Elves still play good if you like them. You can't get insane amounts of money anymore coz of the slave mechanic revamp but still more than enough. New slave mechanic is a hit and miss for people. Seems to be a miss for most including myself.

Demons are just off the chops. The Warrior of Chaos race is just fun af. Lots of cool and strong units. Their unique race mechanic is pretty good and useful. Then each faction within Warriors of Chaos have their own mechanic. Some really good to meh. Most of the Lords are sweet. Nurgle is good but their mechanic is underwhelming.

Kislev have a good roster. They have a Sisters of Averlorn equivalent unit which is good. Their magic is alright could be stronger. Their starting location is rough though but it's rewarding when you end up getting a foot hold and wiping the starting enemies around you.

Didn't give Cathay a try since as soon tried Kairos Fateweaver from Tzeentch i just kept with them for a while.

Haven't gotten the Dwarf DLC yet so can't comment.

Imo has the most powerful doomstack. Although their new starting location sucks ass now and it probably is the hardest location.

I've been playing it a lot. Got some of the legendary lord DLC to try some locked factions. Right now I'm doing a legendary/very hard wood elf campaign with sisters of twilight.

Wood elves are a pretty amazing faction. You only need a couple territories (magic trees) to win, and it's easy to ally and confederate since you can just sell all your conquered territory to friendly npcs. You can confederate the other wood elf factions through super easy quests like kill 3 goblins or something. And you can teleport all around the map through the trees.

Warriors of Chaos are a bit crazy too. They only need to hold dark fortresses, and they recruit chitty units but can eventually upgrade them to the best units in the game. Instant recruiting and being able to turn everyone into a vassal is pretty ridiculous.

Love all the elf factions and always play through with them first. I usually play Orion/ WE, Imrik/HE and Malekith/DE
Also a big fan of Skaven and Vampire counts . I'm glad that Chaos got an overhaul, I found them and Beastmen to be a bit aimless with their quest lines in WH2 but still fun to play

Some of the other factions are still confusing to me. I don't really understand how beastmen operate yet. And demons seem really poor. They operate like a regular faction with standard recruitment and needing to hold minor and capital settlements, which seems kind of dumb considering what they are. They should need less territory than someone like warriors of chaos but they play much more vanilla. Demon economy and campaign is kind of trash which is a shame because all the legendary lords are fun. I love playing skarbrand in battles.

Warriors of chaos are just so much better at everything. Super strong economy, trade, vassals, campaign map, gifts, recruitment, and unit selection.

The race packs are like $20.00 which is a bit steep if you aren't super interested in the faction, but most of them have a legendary lord pack you can get for like 5 bucks that just lets you play that one lord. It's a good way to get into the game and try them out.

I got the sisters of twilight for the wood elves and while they aren't as strong as the other lords, they give you access to them through quests. So I confederated with Durthu and had access to him and his armies. Drycha, the best you can do is vassal them, so you don't control or get their benefits but they will assist you.

The immortal empires campaign is huge and tons of fun.

Oh and all the race packs and lord packs from games 1 and 2 unlock the factions in the new game too. So the original warriors of chaos from warhammer I unlocks Archaeon, who is probably the most powerful legendary lord in the game right now.

I have all the race packs for WH2 already except for the Huntsman/Nakai the Wanderer pack so I should be able to unlock them all. How is Norsca in WH3, afaik they haven't been updated since the beginning so hopefully they suck less now. Looking forward to testing out the new factions...do you play tabletop as well?

I haven't tried norsca yet.

I haven't played tabletop in years but still have tons of minis in my basement. Some friends still play but I haven't really since age of Sigmar.

I wanted to work on some steam achievements so I tried a valkyia legendary campaign in the realms of chaos. It was pretty easy actually. Kislev and Cathay dominated the map but I eventually beat them back. I was surprised as valkyia I didn't have to enter the demon realms. Just played like a mini-immortal empires campaign on the smaller map and you teleport to the final fight against archaeon and the 4 chaos lords at the end. Not even sure what triggers the fight, maybe claiming enough demon portals.

Sucks you can't unlock the achievements in the immortal empires campaign.

Just started a mortal empires campaign with vampire counts for the time being
Man.
I've just started my first Vampire Counts campaign ever on legendary.
Man it's turn 40 and so far it's been smooth sailing. I never play Vampire counts on Warhammer 2. In 3 Either Vlad or Isabella start as a legendary hero depending on who you pick as the starting lord.
Whoever is the hero gets all their Quest gear straight up which i like. I started with Vlad so Isabella gets that insane healing item. Both of them together in the army seem insanely strong so far. Been able to essentially throw those 2 and a vampire into the enemy and just **** them while my skeletons etc hide lol. I really like their magic. I imagine ill have to learn how to properly play their armies eventually as a lot of the enemies I have been battling have **** all armor piercing.

It's only turn 40 so no insane enemy doom stacks but yea so far early game is such smooth sailing.
