The end of the GME saga

The newest report from FINRA is out. On 1/29 the short interest was 21m or 42% of float down from 121%. All the vulnerable shorts covered the day when brokers limited buying and the price tanked.

"It’s a ****ing model!!! It’s not even a real ****ing report! What a piece of ****"
"Up to date my ass. It says 1/29. **** off."
"Looks like the hedge funds are choosing to pay the fine for lying to the feds instead of showing us their hand."

cliffs:
how many shares shorted by the hedge funds compared to the total amount of shares available to trade was a lot lower than what redditors kept parroting.
People who bought on/after 1/29 were fuked and people still holding will continue to be fuked

He sold some, but kept most I believe. Last I heard he was being investigated so he chose to stop posting on Reddit. He'll prolly come back once everything calms down. SEC are scum.

If you put $1k on it for stocks while it was $40, you could've turned it into $10k selling it at the $400+ margins.

And then if you timed it right, predicting it'd go back down, you could've taken that $10k and played put options on it. Multiplying your profits further.

The real winners were the ones who already had stock before the craze, and sold near the high.

I wasn't ballsy enough when I heard about it in the ~$60ish dollar range. But I was ballsy for Put Options when it was going to go down... just didn't have the capital to back it up.

Stock market and crypto, always a bunch of coulda shoulda woulda. People with massive gains. People with massive losses. What can you do. Just keep on investing in what you know, and educate yourself to know what else is possible.

This is a screenshot from a redditors bloomberg terminal. FINRA disseminates a short interest report every ~2 weeks with 2 weeks lag.

All of them made money guaranteed.

Even the ones shorting at the bottom did the same thing at the top. Nothing lasts forever they knew it would fall. for them $$ is just a number on a computer. Its unlimited they could wait forever.

JFL at all the reddit comments of people in denial. The human psyche is amazing
So what are the possible outcomes:

Data is accurate, HF covered: I believe at this point GME becomes a long play. There is the potential for an acquisition or a turn around/pivot in the business model. The play is buy (DCA) and hold.

Data is accurate, HF did not cover: I believe the play here would be to buy as much as you can. This would push up the price pushing more expiring calls ITM and put further pressure on the HF. We would likely get a significant influx of new investment interest from retail and the squeeze is on. The play is buy and hold.

Data is inaccurate: This is the most likely outcome given the money at stake. If it shows they haven’t covered then there would be no real sense in putting out false data. If it shows they have covered then it becomes a gut call. Personally, the continued bots and media coverage seem to still indicate that something is amiss otherwise why go through all that effort, expense, etc. The play is buy (DCA) and hold.

In all three scenarios buy and hold seems to be the most prudent course of action. The only reason to sell IMHO is if you believe GME will go bankrupt.
LMAO that troll really saying to buy and hold no matter what. seemsgood.gif

i looked into it myself. Morningstar just has a different number for shares float making their short interest percentage higher.
its the same 21m number on their websitehttps://www.morningstar.com/stocks/xnys/gme/quote
