UK to enforce mandatory hotel quarantine next week.

Red list countries only

Cliffs
-Mandatory 10 day quarantine for red list country arrivals costing £1750 or ~$2400
- if you lie about where youve been to avoid the quarantine,you face a max 10 years in prison.
-All of this despite already needing a negative covid result within the previous 3 days.

What is the point of passing a coronavirus test within 3 days of arriving if you have to quarantine anyway while taking 2 more tests on days 2 and 8.

We've done this in perth for like the last 8 months. Its stupid because the hotels are in thr main city so when a security guard catches covid it gets spread fast and you get put into lock down like what happened with us last week OVER ONE CASE.

They use Indian security guards that all had second jobs and lived with bulk other people
They've just agreed to pay the security guards more so they don't have to work a second job

It was just implemented 2 weeks ago, and it's 2k for 3 days...What they should have done since so few people are traveling is contract a transportation company to shuttle people home. This way there is record of you being dropped off at your home, and you can quarantine at your house for free.

They tried to get everyone to quarantine on return last summer but it was toothless, guy at the border in Calais didn't care I hadn't filled out the 'locator form' and neither did I. No reason to think they'll actually be able to enforce this beyond a few people they may try to make an example of. They'll rely on fear and self-enforcement like with everything else.
