I did a 1 hour call with the project lead, then a test, then 8 hours of back to back zoom interviews with the leads (then an hour with the COO who tried to convince me to take the job after I turned down the offer)
Great company just I had better options.
Tests are more of a pain in the ass than interviews tbh, especially since the only reason they give tests is to be able to legally not hire you without bitches crying discrimination and trying to sue

We spent the 5 mins in the room deciding where we should go for lunch to catch up.

I name dropped mutual friends/previous coworkers of the manager and had a written offer in my inbox three hours later

1 phone interview with owner
1 with director of technology and business manager
1 with owner and VFD guy from parent company who just happened to be in town
1 dinner with director of technology and lead engineer
Phone interview was actually 7 months before the other ones. Buddy of mine that worked there and was really pushing for me to work there was talking me up to the owner and he wanted to talk to me. We talked for a bit about what I had been doing and I told him I wasn't ready to leave my old job yet. 7 months later I had changed my mind and texted him.

I’ve literally only had 1 interview at any time before getting hired, even for law jobs (no huge multinational firms tho). Just got lucky or either knew somebody (srs).

My wife was also hired at a remote job just through a single remote interview.
What really is unbelieve is like my parents who just walked into a place, asked if they were hiring, and got hired on the spot.

Most of my connections I made previously were at a bar or some event where I can just be a good time and covid has fukked that right up.
Now I’m trying to get into consulting and idk how to write a compelling cover letter to get by HR or do anything than try to just blitz out my resume and all these online applications won’t always auto pull my resume info so it takes forever.
Maybe I should just be a used car salesman?

I had one where it was a 4 interviews total
1st one was a phone interview
2nd one was a video interview where you record yourself answering questions
3rd was interview with the HR person
4th interview was with the manager of the area and you had to present a powerpoint slideshow showcasing your resume and any hobbies that you had and why you wanted the job and why the company would be a good fit.
