After a recent spike in firearm violence across Canada, I can finally feel safe

Trudeau unveils details of ‘assault-style’ gun buyback program, municipal gun ban

"Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government is launching the long-promised buyback program for what he has described as “assault” or “assault-style” firearms."

"While terms like “assault-style” and “assault rifle” are not legal classifications in Canada, they are frequently used colloquially by gun control advocates and the government todescribe the type of high-capacity, quick-fire guns targeted by the ban.

Automatic firearms arealready prohibited in Canada, as are high-capacity magazines."

"The legislation will also allow municipalities to ban handguns through bylaws restricting their possession, storage and transportation. Trudeau said the measures will be backed up with serious penalties to enforce these bylaws, including jail time for people who violate municipal rules."

Just learned my non tactical bone stock Mosberg 500 is on the list due to muzzle size restrictions. Its my bird gun FFS!! Makes no FUKKIN sense.

How is there firearm violence in Canada if "insult" weapons and magazines are banned? Where are these guys getting their guns from?

Fkn sucks, my condolences. For now the buyback is on a voluntary basis, let's see how long it remains that way. Still it's silly for it to be voluntary if they are twisting arms to force you to sell:

If you live in a municipality that suddenly decides to ban handguns and you own a legal one, tough chit, you are now in possession of contraband. (I assume)

As for people, like the poster above, who hunt with a certain firearm, welp they no longer can use that gun now. They'd need to buy a new one, if it was their sole firearm.

If you want to put on a tinfoil hat, it's an extra step towards disarming the population, but this is just speculation.

Smuggling mostly, apparently they are working on getting more law enforcement to fight this.

In Soviet Union we were only permitted to have a smooth bore shotgun used solely for hunting and you had to be a memeber and pay exorbitant dues to the ONLY hunting club in the Soviet Union.


The state also did "buy backs" or voluntary surrender of your weapons...or...most times...just took them and set you to the gulag for having an illegally owned firearm.


Good to know these tactics are now supported by the people that love freedom. Lol
