Don't settle for a plug unless it is urgent. Take it to a tire shop and have them patch it, it will not cost much at all.
The screw was kind enough to penetrate you in the middle of your tread so it is a easy repair. Sometimes when it is out on the edge of the contact surface near the sidewall the shops will not repair it.
