Changing your own brake pads is fine if you have like 7/10 mechanic skills. Anything lower than that could be potentially dangerous.

protip the non-ceramic brake pads contain asbestos.
its not the super dangerous kind but still be careful if you have alot of dust buildup.
reason all my cars have ceramic pads

Why in the world would I want to break my knuckles loosening a caliper carrier when I could pay a tradie to do the job while I clog my toilet with a four foot mahogany monkey tail.

Brake jobs are extremely expensive at the dealership. $300 just for the front on my mother's 2015 Odyssey.

Its worth it to do on your own but there are major safety risk if you don't do it correctly, and there is a correct and wrong way to dew it.

lol brakes ain't rocket surgery. Take off wheel, take off caliper, throw old rotor through your neighbor's sunroom window, and reinstall new chit in reverse order.

Yeah, and if you don't lift the car up properly, it'll kill you. And, if you don't torque the bolts down properly, it'll rattle and fly off at 60mph.

Like I said, brake pad change are fine if you are some what mechanically inclined(7/10). If lower than that you need take it to a shop or do some serious research before tackling it.

Just lmao. Anyone who isn't brain dead like yourself can do something this simple.

Imagine using a torque wrench on something so mundane, most caliper bolts are M8 which usually average around 20-25 ft lbs. The caliper brackets are like 50ft lbs which is easily done with a ratchet.

I call you a pseudo mechanic since you give out advice when you don't actually know chit. Making a brake change sound as complicated as assembling a block

You don't lay underneath the car to do brakes, boyo. And you'd have to be a full on retart to not tighten your bolts down.

With that kind of mindset, I wouldn't even let you change my hub caps, let alone my brakes.

You just can't seem to comprehend that brakes are nothing to take lightly.

If you DIY just do pads and rotors together. Don't put new pads on rotors that have been worn to the old pads. Might stop okay but won't stop properly especially in emergency situations. Use quality products.

I lol @ anybody letting some poverty wage tech do basic maintenance like brakes and oil on vehicles.

They aren’t going to give have the fuk I do about having it done right. Brb go in for an oil change and the tech strips the oil pan bolt because they air wrench literally anything they can to 100x spec.

Oil filter tightened so much you need to be King Arthur to remove that bish.
