Rate my French toast (pics)
Just in case you forgot who the best cook and worst photographer on the misc was.

By syrup because I made this with random crap I had lying around and I didn’t have any syrup lying around.

The second slice was me testing fry times. Ended up reducing it by 30 seconds per side and then sliced it into sticks because the bread was bubbling up in the center and not browning evenly (it was much worse in the next pieces since they weren’t end pieces of the bread)

Stale brioche (or challah) sliced as thick as desired. (I’d prefer a little thicker than I did above)
4 egg yolks
4 tbsp brown sugar
2 tap vanilla extract/paste or 1 vanilla bean scraping
1.5 cup buttermilk (heavy cream would also work. Yogurt works pan browning, not sure about deep fry but it probably does)
Citrus zest to taste.( I like about 1/3 a lemons worth. But I like to blend lemon lime and orange. I used lime above)
1 tsp cinnamon
1tsp nutmeg (freshly ground is best)

Fukkk brings back memories of high school

Seriously though that looks like absolute garbage and is a disgrace to anything remotely tied to french toast. I got super hungry reading the thread title and I'm now leaving the thread wanting to vomit on my fuking keyboard. Probably won't eat for the rest of the day.

You are used to people being incapable of getting a properly browned exterior.

Dafuk is that?
I make french toast all the time by simply soaking some bread in whole egg only and tossing it in a pan. Throw on a bunch of real butter and pure maple syrup and you are good to go.

Was never a big fan of french toast tho. Either too eggy or bread too soggy for my liking. Need to find me a legit recipe.

Keep digging. Reality doesn’t work by vote, and you are so clearly wrong no matter how many people agree with you. Lmao. It’s not dry at all.
