All money supply data is now secret. They discontinued M3 in 2006. Now M1 and M2 info will never be published.

I wonder why they would do such a thing...

I follow this weekly, and it is going to a monthly reporting. A very bizarre move indeed, as it's been reported weekly for ~40 years. The optics of it certainly don't look good (i.e. not reporting it as frequently to hide the fact that they've been exploding it).

In other related news, the CIA has also apparently stopped reporting global money supply numbers in their world fact book ~2 weeks ago.

Knowing how much money is in circulation is important for many reasons. Think supply and demand. The less actual money in circulation means it is more scarce, so each dollar has more value because there are less dollars to be had. If they keep printing more money then there are more dollars in circulation, so each dollar is worth less.

So by hiding how much money is being printed and in circulation, people can only guess as to what the value of each dollar is.

Do you even understand what you cut and paste?

Do you even know that M0, M1, M2 etc definitions have been changed multiple times over the years? Different countries even use different measures for them.

Its hilarious when people discuss the fed without actually understanding nor having any education in economics.

People should actually be thankful for central banking and fractional reserve. We would still be working the mines and fields. Gold standard wouldnt have allowed the expansion of the world as it is today. The system allowed for the printing of money which allowed the world to accelerate to which it did. BRRRRRRR means more loans, more infrastructure, more businesses opening up, more spending, higher standard of living, etc. Gold standard equals hoarding, limited growth and poverty.

"Tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system". Nuff said. Dont need a big brain to figure that one out. I'm not talking about the negatives of what could happen with the few who control everything. Just the benefits that derive from the system that benefits all man kind. Money isnt for holding in inflationary times when there is a reprice of goods and assets, its for holding when its deflationary.

If you don't like the result, simply change the equation

Inflation has been 10% even before the recent run up

From what I've read, what they changed was reducing updates for seasonally-adjusted money supply. Unadjusted M1 is still being published weekly. Which makes sense, considering the massive M1 increase during COVID has warped existing seasonality for the next while.
