Knoxville TN brahs aware me
preface: im not a NE ******* libtard. im cuban right leaning anti communist.
alright so im looking to leave my state which is a blue chit hole overran by dumb *******s. TN is a possible landing state for me - firm i work with now has a pretty big presence in TN and has offices in basically the major cities there. nashville i know is becoming a blue chit hole unfortunately, so I was looking into Knoxville for a potential transfer later this year.
knoxville brahs how is it? is it communist haven filled with low T *******s? whats the area like geographically as well as cost of living? i hear the suburbs of knoxville are pretty affordable COL.
what do you like about knoxville and dislike about it? what are things to watch out for in the next 5-10 years (aka are the communists taking it over)?
thx for input brahs

Have two friends who moved to TN recently. They both love it. One moved from Vegas and the other from Connecticut.

I live in Knoxville, born and raised, and I love it. A lot of good stuff coming down the pipe (more downtown development, AAA baseball stadium under works, in talks with Nashville's future MLS team to play some games here). Although we suck currently, there is nothing like tailgating and going to a UT football game. COL is relatively cheap, and housing prices are better than renting (unfortunately I feel this is changing). We are just a few miles from the mountains, and some beautiful terrain. Great lake and river access. Also, WWE superstar Kane is our county mayor, but he is a prick. I'll answer any questions you have. I own a business here, and know a lot of the happenings around town
Edit: Knoxville city is a pretty healthy mix of centrist political ideas. Although, we do have our idiots who have loud megaphones, but no one really pays attention to them

We have recently become a cycling destination with a zero gravity bike trail, BMX course, greenway through the whole city, the US nationals road racing, and many more trails

Nashville is really a whole different kind of city so the two aren’t comparable.
I’d stay away from National Fitness Center for gyms just because when I was around they wanted outrageous contracts like 2yrs+

Lots of great fishing lakes along the whole Tennessee river system, was just down there in the fall, we got a cabin on Douglas lake. Beautiful mountains, gatlinburg, pidgeon forge etc. Chattanooga seems legit too if you want more southwest.

I live in Georgia and pretty much love everything southern...with the exception of Knoxville. It is the town time forgot. Imagine Detroit but in Tennessee mountains.
There are many amazing cities in Tennessee but Knoxville ain’t it. We have an office there I visit twice a year and I’m in an out in a day (on purpose). It’s in the “nice” section of the city (Turkey creek) and it’s still worthless. I take the same trip to our Nashville office and spend an entire week there. That tells you the difference between the cities.
Again Tennessee is amazing. Loads to do outdoors, good food, nice cities but Knoxville ain’t it..

I just moved to Knoxville as of January 26th, so just over 1 month. Having lived in Florida, the last bastion of freedom stateside, for ~25 years, 3 years in Colorado and a couple in Texas I can say that Knoxville seems to be a great place if you're conservative or just don't want to live near really outspoken political types. I haven't run into any myself and don't see the crazy MAGA trucks driving around like I did in Florida 24/7. Personally I don't really like politics to be everywhere whether I agree or not.
Reminds me of a larger, more spread out version of my own really small hometown in Florida. Pretty quiet for the most part, friendly people, lots of stuff to do, and about 40 minutes away from some great hiking in the smoky mountains. It compares favorably to Texas and Colorado, about on par with the non big-city parts of Florida. If you're looking for a happening night life I don't think you'll find that unless you're college age though. Add to that no state income tax, low real estate prices (look to be climbing in the coming years), low gas prices and you've got a pretty good place to be if you're not one of those mask wearing rainbow flag types.
