For the same reason we still have plastic over the fukkin keys on the card-swipe machines.

If it is more complicated or looks more complicated the sheep feel safer. None of it has to make sense.

At work, we still have to come in every morning and be "screened". We answer a bunch of inane questions that 100% of people say "no" to. One of the questions is: have you been tested within the last 14 days? How is that even a disqualifying question? If I say yes, I am not at any higher risk of actually being infected than someone who comes in and says they haven't been tested. Zero thought has been put into 90% of our response to this "pandemic".
