it's a 'sales' job, but instead of victim customers you have victim co-workers who have to tolerate your nonsense

I genuinely think that traditional management consultancy firms (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc) will lose clout in the 2020s as business problems become increasingly more data-centric. The consultants with the most growth prospects right now are in cloud solutions (srs)

Really, if a company has a really good COO, their operations team should be able to find those same efficiencies that a consultancy can offer, and be able to partner with the people managers to build a strategy.
Oftentimes companies are really just looking for ways to reduce the workforce when hiring management consultancies since those consultancies don’t have personal relationships established with employees. Then they can point the finger at the firm when they do RIFs.

Management consultancies often aren’t paid for their ideas or solutions, but are paid because management needs something to point to in order to get an idea supported at a C suite level
Just shows you how comically run major corporations are. Move slow as molasses and need someone to blame or be on the hook every step of the way.
The average deliverable from a consultancy firm is hot garbage and yes even the consultants there know this.

As stated above re: big data. Any corporation that has the ability to hire some legitimate business analysts and has access to their own data really should never need a consultancy firm. Their own employees will have the industry knowledge and experience to provide the same if not better recommendations/insights than any major consulting firm. The difference is these employees voices are generally not supported, while MBB can take a **** and call it gold
Some of the slide decks I’ve seen from those clown shows are complete nonsense lol

I worked for a smaller division of that company and was in charge of finance. The consulting group offered the CEO and CFO, a "Free review" of our division. Basically they wanted permission to latch onto our division too to create more projects. I was the liaison to the consulting group. We knew what they were going to try to push on us even before they started their analysis. We told the CEO and CFO that they would be welcome to review anything they wanted, but if they suggested what we thought they would suggest, that it absolutely would not work, and would be a waste of time to review. So, they did they project, and we gave them every reason possible that their thesis was wrong. They concluded exactly what we thought they would, and they presented it anyway. I hate consultants.

They also always create their own terminology or approaches with data/analysis to seem “proprietary” , but this is all again a ruse to look like they have some secret sauce that can’t be replicated when advising senior management
But again , corporate leadership would rather trust a consultancy firm than employees a few grades below them. Just the nature of the beast. I’ve never seen work from a major consulting firm add value to a corporation srs
