Do you guys still use torrents?

I feel like it's a lost art.
I'm boycotting netflix and all that other media chit so started using a VPN and torrenting chit now again.

Oh geez, I still do it.. but miscers got me thinking its time to give up.

I get frustrated that I have to check like 4 or 5 different providers of streaming apps, only to discover I have to pay amazon $10 to rent a movie that came out in 1999 or some chit. I'm only a pirate because their BS system is providing zero value and then ultimately pirating me.

Where the **** is the modern day movie archive???

brb building it in my 3TB external hard drive.

Yeah unfortunately. Internet is a barren wasteland compared to what it used to be. So sometimes your only option to download a movie or album that isn't on a warez site or on streaming is to go the old torrent route. Just a couple days ago it was the only way method in which I could find the movie Man Facing Southeast (1986).

All the time brah. I have a 6tb harddrive that’s nearly full. Gonna buy another one soon and continue to torrent. I connect the harddrive to kodi so it’s like my own personal Netflix.

As far as tv show recommendations go I recently downloaded all the old tales from the crypt and creepshow tv shows from the 90’s. pretty fun but nothing srs.

I imagine you’ve watched it as has everyone but the last dance documentary was 10/10.

Lovecraft country is that new horror one, it looked pretty cool, watched one episode but haven’t got back to it yet but I enjoyed.

My VPN is actually based in a country that doesn't require keeping internet logs and they delete all the info immediately.
I think it's safe but I could be wrong I'm not a techie. I was a techie 15 years ago lol. My computer knowledge pretty much stopped then haha

I’ve got 900 movies and about 2,000 episodes of tv shows.

I’m a wagecel I can’t afford that.

Also Harvey Weinstein was involved in several of those films, I wouldn’t want to support him by paying him any further nomsayin brah?

With all the different streaming services each wanting between $8 - $15/month, I’m thinking about going back to torrenting as well.

I stopped using torrents about a decade ago. The golden age of peer2peer piracy is long gone.

Piracy is actually way better now since there all the content is spread out between a dozen different streaming services. The only way to consolidate and have everything in one place (plex) is to sail the high seas.

First of all, I'm not saying im holier than thou because I've done a bit of torrenting, who hasn't, and I still download educational books for free.

When it comes to games and movies though, I actively try to buy it on blueray to support the creators if I see it as something interesting that I'd like. Also it doesn't make sense to me why people just horde movies instead of getting what looks interesting to them. That way they can buy stuff they like, instead of pirating or buying everything.

Being a wagecel isn't a good excuse to pirate.
