Miscers who read GTFIH (Tradies -- KEEP OUT)

What are your favourite books? Looking to add to my library. Looking for fic, non-fic, really enjoy histories, philosophy, etc.

Just finished Joseph Heller'sCatch-22-- incredible book, had me in fits on several occasions, and then Heller hits you with the crushing reality of war.

So many to choose from. I like character novels that are action-adventure. Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt, Tom Clancy/Jack Ryan, Lee Child/Jack Reacher, etc.
Tom Clancy books were great because Tom was so tied into the military, cia and other agencies, and he incorporated a lot of real-life facts into his novels. They are good reads but also give real insight into how spy agencies work.

I'll just say what I've primarily been working through lately - The Demon Wars Saga. I'm on book 6 of 7. It's RA Salvatore, and a lot people seem to like to kind of shyt on him, but I think he does pretty good work for the fantasy genre - this series is pretty good anyway.

The Poisonwood Bible

It’s a fictional story about a non-fictional time period. Basically a true story told through fictional characters. By the end I felt attached to the characters like I knew them, and after finishing the book I wanted to read it again because I missed them. The most beautiful book I’ve ever read. Don’t let yourself die without reading it.

Definitely one of the GOAT novels that I've read. Shogun by Clavell is on my to do list as well.

While I'm at it, as far as novels - East of Eden and Anna Karenina are some great classical literature that I really enjoyed (and certainly wouldn't have expected to based on a summary).
