Brahs: Is Incline Bench Superior Race?

Incline Bench vs. Flat Bench - is incline the superior race?

brb less pressure on shoulders

brb less pressure on tearing a pec

brb less strain on lower back

brb better chest aesthetics than flat

so what is it brahs? incline the superior race?

Meh

I do flat and shoulder press. No need for incline press imo.

Also, I don’t believe you can get injured doing flat if you aren’t retarded or you aren’t doing some ridiculously heavy sets (which you aren’t).

Dropped flat in favour of Incline as my only direct chest move 3 sessions ago. Notable difference in chest and shoulder aesthetics as each session goes by.

Sitting around the 225 bench mark so not noob gains either.

Incline is far superior if your goal is aesthetics.

Why? I’d rather keep doing military presses tbh.

Makes no sense for me to do both on my push days.

My chest is pretty good (imo) for my physique so im not overly worried about “upper chest”.

I've always heard incline is easier on your shoulders but TBH I've found flat bench is easier on the shoulder joint. Especially noticeable after I had surgery on a shoulder. I either go flat with a barbell or incline on the first notch with DB's.

If I could only do one. I'd go flat.

I think it depends on genetics/insertions. My upper chest grows just fine from flat bench, and if anything I have to concentrate on other lifts if I want to make my cleavage and lower pecs keep up. I still do incline dumbell press, but for me I don’t think it’s superior and I have to focus on other lifts to keep things even.

Military press is shoulder dominant......if you’re doing it correctly anyway. Flat bench is great but you’re definitely missing out on chest development by skipping incline. If I had to drop flat or incline, I would drop flat.

most of the commercial incline benches at gyms are trash, I prefer a low incline

with that said i've been getting some weird pressure on my shoulders doing incline so I've kinda stopped doing them, dumbbells seem to be fine though

everything you just listed above as far as cons is pretty much rectified with good form unless you're one of the few who legit can't do it, i.e: keeping your shoulders retracted and depressed on the bench, not purposely arching your lower back and lifting your butt off the bench

Swissbar bench at any angle is the GOAT for longevity.

I partially tore my rotator cuff pitching. So bad i couldn't put my arm straight over my head without feeling it pinch between the bones. Regular bar was excruciating. Bought a swiss bar and was able to train 100% with it. Used that for 2 years and my rotator cuff healed on its own.

I can now do regular barbell again with no pain. **** is legit.

Idk man, I feel like mp works a lot of the upper chest.

Assuming it’s not some weird no arch behind the back upside down press lol.

Might be just me though, I’d rather have more arm development than chest development. Tfw 6’6” wingspan.

Less pressure on shoulders with incline? maybe I'm doing it wrong but not in my experience. Incline is way harder on the shoulders. Especially if you're going full ROM

I rarely flat bench. I NEVER BB bench. It’s all cables, machines and sone DB for me. Chest is one of my strong points too
PS you can phuck up shoulders doin incline presses. Was doin inc DB last year and I’m pretty sure I nearly tore something in my shoulder. Hurt like a bich for a month

DB flat -> OHP -> DB incline, every push day.

Favorite sequence I've found since starting lifting. Feels amazing, no signs of injury yet.
