You try to help them but just get push back? In the last few years have friends who:
- married trash women, like 26 year old bartenders. Years later complain about money nonstop. Well you walked into that one
- live beyond their means. View investing as gambling so spend money on stupid chit like new cars, boats, etc. in 30s and admittedly have saved nothing for retirement. Can’t wait to see how that plays out
- lives at home with parents in late 20s or early 30s. Complains about the system, can’t get women, how baby boomers ruined their lives, etc.
- eat garbage and drink excessively several days a week. BRB try to do something as simple as a 5k with them is like asking to summit Everest
I’m not even trying to be some elitist snob, these are just basic life adult things that you have to do at this age, and if you don’t fix ASAP you’re setting yourself up to be a disaster. Decisions you make in your 20s/30s ripple into the life you have for the rest of your life

Yeah I got this one buddy who is 27 who can't seem to get anything right at all
- lives with his dad
- broke / unemployed for like last 3 years
- fat
- infatuated with a literal whore
List goes on
I have a feeling these people were babied or coddled growing up and could never gain an competitive edge in the real world or get anything going
Its funny how much free time they have and they are still fat
If I had that much free time from being unemployed I'd atleast become unfat
Also they are extremely delusional : buddy told me they other day that he thought me and him were on the same " level " and said the only difference is u got money in the bank ( lol !!)
I said try working 40 hours per week and make a contribution to society before saying that

Agree on free time. It’s weird but the less time you have, the more you can manage it. If someone has all day to do whatever then for some reason just won’t have time for anything. Meanwhile, I know if I have a meeting or something in the evening I’ll fit in the gym that morning at 6am

Yes, but not just friends, family too.
It sucks to see them continue to make poor choices into their 30s and not seem to care about the results. I believe it's due to deep-seated depression that just cycles into more bad choices and ultimately apathy for their future (because they don't believe they have control).
I want to help them, but it's at the point where I can't spend energy when they aren't willing to chip in on their own lives. Honestly it causes me a lot of anguish and I have to check myself to not get too invested as things only seem to get worse.
And yeah, I don't think I'm perfect and made a lot of irresponsible decisions earlier in life, but at some point you have to take responsibility and turn your **** around.

Yessir, unfortunately you can only do so much.
You can’t help someone who isn’t willing to help themselves.

I'm in my late 40s and the same people that were making dumb decisions in their 20s are still hard at work making the same stupid decisions...
The older I get, the more I've learned not to try to influence and or talk people out of their dumb habits. Out of all of the people I know, a single one of them has made appropriate course corrections after they made their typical youthful (high school/college) stupid decisions.

But I asked him do you even get out the house for a walk these days ? He's like nah
And they also have unrealistic expectations of where they fit into the job market . He constantly has this attitude of holding out for something better ...but never asked himself where that got him in the past 3 years.
Also he got into hanging out with this escort, and he thought she loved him , and since he had unlimited free time i heard he racked up 20k on his credit card for paying for hotels for him and her......( simp )
Also got a DUI...heard he was chilling with the girl in his car smoking or drinking or whatever and accidently rolled his car off an embankment
Also a year before got a hit and run
His dad probably pays for his auto insurance now...
I told him man no body who is doing good got free time to do that
It just goes to show you ....TOO MUCH free time in the wrong hands is never good .
He's at the point where he can't even support himself living at home, and is still delusional of where he fits in on the job market.
But we also have to admit these ppl were never the sharpest tools in the shed ...but even with that said they still find ways to massively low achieve
I've learnt to keep my distance a bit , because I dont want their " loser" rubbing off on me

You can:
1. Let them know they are fuking up. If they dont acknowledge this too, distance yourself
2. If you provide help and they keep fuking up, distance yourself
3. Only when they reach rock bottom is it worth your time to assist them again.

When you don't have a job, what really sabotages people is that they start sitting around more and lose their cardio and endurance. Thats foundational for everything especially heart health. Even if you don't have a job, you still have to do your cardio no matter what for the rest of your life and get those miles in.

Misery loves company. If you cant find better friends your life isnt moving you into a better circle of people and you should fix that.

LOL some of you hang with idiots.
I used to hang with morons like that but I left them all behind.
My advice is if you're approaching 30's cut the dead weight before it starts effecting you.
If you're over 30 and still hanging with them you should have left them behind by now.
