Brahs knowledgeable about credit get in here

I have been trying to clean my credit up lately. Cleaned up all bad marks but one which is a closed account with a balance on it. Balance was 4 years old. I just called, they pulled it up and said it was in the process of being transferred to a Collection agency.

Did calling reopen the account for them to transfer it? Weird after 4 years it is magically supposed to be transferred the next day after I called.

Also did I dun goof?

No. Things fall through the cracks all the time. The person was just reading status from their screen. It doesn't sound like anyone has actually done anything to start the transfer process otherwise you would have been called or mailed already. Why not just pay it off or ask them to work with you to come up with a payment plan? I would call them back and see if you can make that happen instead of letting it go.

They said they couldn’t do anything and have me the number to call for the collection agency and said it will be there the next day. Hopefully they can do pay for delete, it’s the only bad thing on my credit report, also only $800 dollars.
