He isn't shrugging the weight, just circling his shoulders. Still insanely impressive. Zerchers hurt like hell and I can't imagine the forearms bruises this would cause.

Reminds me of this guy I used to know at my old gym
He would do shrugs and work up to 7 plates on each side
1 and 2 plates, perfect form
But as the weight increased, his shoulders stopping going up towards his ears and he started flapping his lats out

I always feel my traps most from Farmer's Walks, Deadlifts, Zercher Squats or other static holds.

I admit not being informed on the topic, but I wouldn't be surprised simply standing there with heavy weights might do more for traps, than shrugging.

not as far as I can see, because that would mean admitting he's not particularly strong..
