You'll never make money doing it and that is from a dude who did it long enough to be invited to races and sitting alongside the owners.
I did it a few years ago, large bets, but they were hedged. I'm not going to get into it, but betting on horses is just gambling like everything else.
Although i wasn't gambling.
A few years ago you could go to obscure tennis matches and the likes, and watch the matches and place bets before the bookies were updated.
